The Obama Administration has been itching for an Internet foe to distract us from our current “non-social issues” related difficulties. (No jobs, no growth, that sort of thing.) Anything at all will do. So how about this?
Anonymous has officially declared war on America by calling for an armed rebellion against the U.S. government. Not redneck militia. Not TEA party patriots or former Military. Not even people with Gadsden flags in their windows or Ron Paul bumper stickers on their rusty Volvos. It’s Anonymous.
DaTechGuy Blog has the links to the original reports, and some commentary about the perceived threat– but what I want to know is…how does the invertebrate progressive establishment even respond to this?
Anonymous claims to be us. (Or maybe they are just a handful of some 21st century equivalents of David from the movie War Games?) Whoever they are doesn’t that still make them part of the 99%? Where does the community organizer in chief and most of the progressive movement–itching as they were for riots at the #occupy camps (community organizer types pine endlessly for civil unrest)–stand on the matter of Internet anarchists calling for open armed rebellion against them?
My guess? They’ll blame the Republican House, George Bush, the Koch brothers, and maybe even Climate change, and then apologize. (Anonymous is clearly a victim of American Imperialism.) And if Anonymous is really lucky, Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu, will fast track a $350 million dollar green energy loan to them as reparation. (Though they may still be able to claim they were actually black farmers who were victims of prejudice or perhaps suffered in some way from the BP oil spill.)
