Word has come to me that Laura Saffo, the elected Grafton County Attorney—who heads up the office that prosecutes all felonies in the county—has told confidants that she is “keeping an eye on the Freestaters” in Grafton County.
Really. In the town of Grafton, where I have my residence, “Freestaters” are members of the volunteer fire department, landholders, homeowners, parents, and concerned citizens. They have also been elected to various positions, including the town budget committee, the school board budget committee, keepers of the checklist, and delegate to the state Republican Party just to mention a few.
In fact, I am a “Freestater”—having come to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project migration—and I’d like to know which Grafton County residents, including myself, are under surveillance by this county prosecutor.
What other disfavored people in Grafton County is Ms. Saffo “keeping an eye on”? Tea Partiers? Second Amendment activists? Returning veterans as potential “terrorists”? Who else? And what form does her snooping take? What does she mean—as the county attorney—by the term “keeping an eye on” people? On what basis does pick people to “keep an eye on”?
Inquiring minds would like to know.
As for myself, if Laura Saffo is interested in interviewing a “Freestater,” I invite her to contact me directly. Like Ms. Saffo, I’m a lawyer. That’s me up above, in case they don’t have a picture (admittedly, it’s old as hell, but when you’re an elected government prosecutor engaged in discriminatory “keeping an eye on people,” you take what you can get).
I look forward to hearing from Ms. Saffo.
