You know, I really liked this from Steve’s post:
Warrenism states that those receiving the allowance will not only define how much and how often they are paid (under threat of intimidation, public humiliation, lawsuits, and even imprisonment), they will also decide how it is to be spent and who and what will benefit. The problem with this scenario is that, as has often been said, you eventually run out of other peoples money So Warrenism is actually just another form of economic suicide that ends the way every other socialist hissy-fit has ended; in misery or violence, or more likely plenty of both.
as it played off her rant heard round the country (which basically said that an individual deserves no credit for their success – it is only because of "all of us" (or, if you want "the collective") that you have "won". It just enforces the notion that academics like her, Progressives like her, utterly reject the notion on which this country was founded – Individuals are in charge of themselves that that Society (or Government) does not and that by hard work, a good idea, and pursuing a dream, each one of us might actually achieve it. Instead, she totally tips over and subverts the notion that Government should only provide the floor on which Society gets to roam around on. Government provides the floor by protecting Rights, protecting commerce via a Justice system that truly is blind, and by doing what it is empowered to do by the respective Constitutions (Federal and State). She, on the other hand, wants Government to not only act as the floor, but the overreaching arch as well (funny, all those little pillars connecting the two are so numerous and small, they look like bars from a cell – I wonder why?).
But I digress. She famously said that she had provided the intellectual foundation for the And once again, Steve listed all of the "intellectual results" that Elizabeth provided the firepower for (and like all politicians, she is trying to walk that statement backward as OWS is lurching towards a Chicago ’68 moment). Well, it seems that someone wanted to hold her accountable for her words – and did a pretty good job at it!
