House votes to raise debt ceiling; 3 of 4 NH lawmakers support plan

The U.S. House voted to raise the country’s debt limit by $2.1 trillion Monday evening, with both New Hampshire congressmen voting for the deal struck by congressional leaders and President Obama.

The vote was 269-161. The legislation now moves to the Senate, and President Obama is expected to sign it if it passes there.

Three of the four New Hampshire lawmakers support the legislation, while quickly adding it is not perfect. Republican Congressmen Frank Guinta and Charles Bass said it marked a new course for Congress, one of cutting spending.

[Baloney, of course. There are NO CUTS IN SPENDING AT ALL, and everyone knows it. If Bass and Guinta think there are, it simply demonstrates how ignorant and out of touch they are. They have been co-opted by the corrupt Washington, DC culture. Especially so when we see that they could have followed the lead of GOP Presidential candidates Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann, both of whom voted AGAINST the sell-out. Can we have some Real Republican Conservatives STEP UP AND CHALLENGE BASS AND GUINTA IN THE GOP PRIMARY NEXT YEAR?]
