Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the matter. I have spent the day reading and re-reading your thoughts below as well as many other posts which have arrived in my inbox.
I understand the analogy you used, and, at some levels the “mission” as it might be considered, can be likened to warfare. However, in reading your words, a little voice in the back of my head whispers that it is the lockstep mentality so prevalent in the opposition political party that is being suggested here.
To speak directly to the “sides” issue, I find it curious that there seems to be an argument that donations to the GOP are being “withheld” because these unnamed donors are disinclined to release said funds because Jack Kimball is the GOP chair. I’m not the smartest knife in the drawer, but there seems to be a “side” taken in this matter if this scenario is accurate. A little hypocrisy here? Where is the “team” behavior you cite on the part of those currently at odds with the Chairman? Probably not with “Jack and you folks ”, as you eloquently state below. Are you suggesting that you are on a different “side” than “Jack and you folks”; in conflict with the statement that “Once Jack was elected the "sides" issues go away and the team or mission and platform take precedent.”
There is a long-standing and well-documented history of conservatives of every flavor – social, fiscal, or otherwise – being marginalized or ignored by the “Establishment” Republicans in the Party. Because of this, there are some who are of the opinion that there is really no difference between the GOP and the Democrat political infrastructures. Both seem to engage in a…
…win-every-seat-every-time mentality. Both seem to run fast and loose with the truth on occasion – and we could debate for hours the degree of violation relative to this issue. There continues to be data coming forward suggesting that much, if not all, of the arguments used by the forces aligned against the GOP Chairman seem to be based on misrepresentations of fact, innuendo, and, in my opinion, completely reprehensible behaviors by some in this Party to lead us to this point. It is amazing to me that because of the actions of some, the embarrassing fiasco that results can only be resolved by the removal of Jack Kimball, according to some. One wonders exactly when we returned to the 1790’s and the French Revolution, where subversive deeds and misstatements of fact often resulted in the removal of heads of many, “for the good of the Party”.
I stand on the side of truth. And so far, in this instance, the truth seems to be quite elusive in some sectors of the NH GOP infrastructure. When the Party I have supported my entire adult life – and I have been a registered Republican for close to 40 years – engages in behaviors similar to those of the opposition party, then perhaps I and others need to reevaluate many things. Like you, I took the Oath to support and defend this country and the Constitution on multiple occasions in my 26-plus year military career. I, like you, continue to take that Oath seriously. Unfortunately for both of us, there are those within the GOP who find it unnecessary to remain rooted in truth and integrity.
This movement to remove Jack Kimball as GOP Chairman is being done for all the wrong reasons. There is much that many believe is not grounded in truth; and there seems to be compelling evidence to refute the charges. For those reasons alone this action should be stopped. If the Executive Committee of the NH GOP continues this action, and removes the GOP Chairman for reasons not based on truthful and factual criteria, the damage done to the Republican efforts going forward will be massive, and even more destructive than what some perceive makes this action necessary.
