Debt Ceiling: Vote for it, and we are your enemy

by

Erick Erickson of Redstate has thrown down the gauntlet over the upcoming national debt ceiling debate:

I pledge that if any Republican votes to increase the debt ceiling without first cutting, capping, and balancing using Lee-Cornyn-Hatch, I will work like hell to beat the hell out of him/her in a primary, even if their election is 2014 or 2016.

ALL of us at GraniteGrok have said the same thing over the last few months; we will be that bastion of opposition to ANY current Federal office holder that goes against this.  No exception.  Simply raising the debt service level does nothing but keep us falling into the black hole; the specter of looming interest rate hikes should scare the bejesus out of anyone – there will be far fewer dollars for any services as they will flow to the financiers.  If our elected leaders, that we have put into office to make the tough decisions, decide to punt, we will lead the charge to punt them out of office and put new faces in to act like responsible adults.

After all, we’re broke.  Start acting and deciding like it instead of merely blithering like we’re not.

Given that tax cheat (and titular head of the IRS; how ironic) Treasury Secretary  Timmy Geithner has thus far has put stake after stake in the ground about "we HAVE to have a higher ceiling by this date that date another date by August 2", how can we trust him or others?  The Conservatives in both the US House and US Senate have called for structuring payment of debt service first – and I agree with the implicit "next statement":

and don’t pay for the somethings for which we don’t have the money

Our crisis is not from a lack of revenue, it is simply a lack of revenues for everything for which the Socialists and Democrats (er, the same thing?) in DC wish to spend on.  They have neglected the Founders wisdom that Government cannot be and do all things for all people; the people should be doing for themselves.

November keeps coming around – and we’ll be waiting.
