“…spitting on a 5 alarm fire is being effective.”

Anyone else see the problem with this?  Is anyone else ANNOYED with this?

The bipartisan commission led by Vice President Joe Biden is looking to achieve at least $1 trillion in spending cuts, lawmakers say.

“We are confident that if we keep on this pace we can get to a relatively large number,” Biden told reporters on his way out of the group’s meeting at the Capitol. “I think we are in a position where we are going to be able to get to where we can get to $1 trillion, which will be a down-payment on the process.”

Sure, a Trillion bucks is a good deal of money; I’m all for saving that amount of money.  Problem is this:

Current estimates is that this year’s deficit will be $1.65 Trillion.

Only in DC is cutting only 2/3rds of THIS year’s budget be considered a big deal…and if you read the rest of the post, the time frame is indeterminate.

Yeah, just like the $100 Billion $63 Billion $38 Billion $326 million Continuing Resolution – just like thinking spitting on a 5 alarm fire is being effective.
