Not all of the Special Interviews were actually, well, interviews. Well, here we go: social justice. While the House was debating and the unions were screaming, there was a group of liberal pastors upstairs praying. And giving "non-interview" interviews. John Hinkel‘s friend, Gus, decided that he wanted to find out what was going on. Thinking that might be interesting, I gathered up the camera and went with him. Gus walked up to what turned out to be Rev. Bill Exner, pastor at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Goffstown.
Having blogged on the mishaps of the Episcopal Church here on the ‘Grok, given the situtation, the Reverand did not disappoint and met my very low expections. He made it clear that he was giving no interviews – but he sure made sure that HIS outlook was made clear as he talked, not to Gus, but to my camera (emphasis mine):
Well, we have been holding vigil in hopes that we can change the hearts who have proposed what we consider a spending bill that is intentionally an assault on people who can’t defend themselves; the poor, our children, and on teens, and on the elderly, our public servants. And as people of faith, we want to pray for [a] closer look at that. So that’s why we’re here.
Our of the day is not to do that kind of interview [mentions Monitor interview]
But send a few emails…to the Finance Committee
In other words, he’s fine with an opportunity to get his message out and urge activism on that collective agenda, but like many Left leaning activists, as seen by Too Ashamed of the Pickup Patriots and Zandra Rice-Hawkins, not willing to be questioned on their stances or be put into a position of having to defend their actions.
"Conservatives think Liberals are misguided, Liberals believe that Conservatives are EVIIIILLLLL."
What is most egregious is the phrasing he used: "intentionally an assault". Really? Not ONE of the folks I interviewed, not ONE of the folks that I know that are in the House or Senate, hold that position of "cool, let’s go make peoples’ lives intentionally worse". The Rev imputes a calculated outlook to cause harm – nice going there dude!
The problem here is one of selfishness and laziness: an outsourcing of the Church’s traditional role from the Church to Govt. I really didn’t want to go here, but perhaps Glen Beck is right – social justice is one way to create an unholy alliance between Church and Govt.
So, what do we hear all the time from Lefties? Oh yeah: Separation of Church and State. In terms of morality in sexual behavior? Stay away, Church! In terms of baby killing family planning? Stay away, Church! In terms of prayer in schools? Quoting the Bible? Stay away, Church!
Oh, you want to help us grow the size of Govt (or at least in this case, keep it from shrinking)? Come on over, good buddy!
Hypocrites all!
