First I was speechless (not a great thing at the beginning of a talk show) and then I nearly fell out of my chair when fellow Grokster Tim shared the news: according to the New York Times Magazine, I am a Blogger to be Feared!
Yeah, sure. I really thought he was just pulling my leg, just trying for a laugh. Turned out, he wasn’t kidding – his daughter (who lives in NYC) saw it and let him know. Doug found the link:
BLOGGER TO FEAR
Iowa
The “Krusty Konservative.” Anonymous, abrasive, and well-sourced.New Hampshire
Skip Murphy of GraniteGrok. Very politically incorrect; known to change his mind about pols.South Carolina
Will Folks, FITSNews. Once claimed an affair with Governor Nikki Haley (she denies it). Might pick on a few candidates; he likes a foil.
We here in NH know the author: James Pindell of WMUR Political Scoop. The above was only a part of the piece – it seems that James was tossing out data points with respect to the Primaries in each state and how there are similarities (all the same, just the names change – except for the Pastor part here in NH. You know, he coulda asked me – I have two ready names for him and a bunch more if those did not suffice).
Politically Incorrect? Sure am – I agree with Charlton Heston that Political Correctness is Tyranny with manners. Actually, I think Joe the Plumber has a better definition: Political Castration. As George Orwell showed in 1984, he who defines the language defines speech. He who defines speech controls the thoughts – and therefore has already won the argument that can never be.
And as far as changing my mind about pols? You Betcha! You know why? Because I don’t change my philosophical foundation. I support folks that agree with that of the Founding Fathers and my morality. When I see that they have said one thing to me and then vote another way, you bet I’ll bring out these:
So, badges of honor? Absolutely – while there are some times in politics that things get a bit grey, being politically incorrect basically says I (and the other guys here at the ‘Grok) will speak plainly and openly. We can be wrong from time to time – and we’ll recant when we are. But we will not budge from our stances of fighting for Individual Freedom and Liberty that the well meaning folks that believe "it’s good for you!" and other collectivists that say "We’re all One" while never saying that we’d end up like Animal Farm and all the other socialist nations that say "equality for all" – but never seem to get past that "we’re all equal, but some are more equal than others" when decisions are to be made.
So, if you are a wishy-washy pol that strays, you BET I’ve got a pole for you…
…Just look upward.
