“Faster than we can find honest people…”

Guest-post from Dan Kanna, New Hampshire’s new Tenth Amendment Center Director….an editorial to the Union Leader.

Dear Editor,
The question has been asked “Who are you taking your country back from?”; this is a very reasonable question, and deserves to be answered.

When you look at government from the lens of sovereignty the answer becomes clear. We were raised with the notion that we control our own lives, liberty, and happiness as long as we don’t deny others the same and play within the rules we get to keep those natural rights by virtue of our Creator; or our humanity as you will. Government was instituted to protect and defend those God given rights; our freedom does not originate from the bill of rights, the bill of rights simply prevents the government from taking them from us.

To further protect our natural rights from government, power was divided into a compound republic; or one with many parts where each was to jealously guard its authority from the others and preserve the balance of that power so that no single part of the whole would become powerful enough to deny us those rights.

Today our compound republic is out of balance; the Federal government has almost won the sovereignty war and we are witnessing a fundamental breakdown of the checks and balances that safeguard our freedom. Ever so slowly they have eroded our rights to the point where in their arrogance they are taking over corporations and even attempting to prevent us from growing our own food in our back yard along with deciding what food our children can or cannot eat and carelessly spending our money without regard for the consequences we and our children pay for their actions.

We don’t want to replace our left wing masters in D.C. with right wing masters; we want to be our own masters! This ownership of personal sovereignty is being taken from us, and that is what needs to be restored! The volatility of national elections has been an attempt by us to restore our sovereignty and get people in D.C. who understand what we want DON’T want them to do. Unfortunately D.C. has been better at corrupting everyone we send faster than we can find honest people.

There is a growing consensus among patriots across this Nation that the balance will only be restored through the States, as the Federal government is spinning wildly out of control to the point when asked “Where in the Constitution do you derive this authority” the response includes laughter and then “Are you serious?” The answer to the question of taking our country back from who is nothing less than taking our country back from Washington D.C.

The recent elections across this Nation reflect the realization that we need the States to stand against the Federal government, the historic turn of power in the State Capitol is a result of this and we are not alone. The path to restore our sovereignty will not be easy, and our legislators in Concord need to know they have our support! We tried on our own, we now turn to the States to stop the madness emanating from D.C.

In Liberty,

Dan Kanna
