I saw this in DiStaso’s column:
And no, said Biundo, Shea-Porter still has not called Guinta to congratulate him on his victory.
Set that into high contrast with true graceful "not-the-top-vote-getters"; examples like Jack Kimball, Ovide Lamontagne, Jennifer Horn, Rich Ashooh, Jim Bender, Mike Castaldo and others. They may have lost with a heavy heart, but came up with smiles, put their shoulders back to the grindstone, and went out and helped their former rivals. Willingly. Such a difference.
And lest I forget (and if I remember right), on the Democrat side, Katrina Swett was gracious in her concession speech.
Americans love winners and truly gracious winners even more. Yet, we also show a fondness for those demonstrating a traditional "blue collar work ethic" during a campaign, a graciousness in defeat, and a dignified comportment after the election. Those that I named did (exception here for Katrina as I did not track afterwards, so I do not know).
Thus, when brought fully into contrast, who truly shows greater leadership qualities going forward? If the Progressives believe that CSP is such a great leader, then both she and he have lots to learn – the above lead by example with a smile. She seemingly has gone into a spiteful corner to sulk.
Sore losers are but a mere 1/2 step higher than sore winners (think Barney Frank’s "victory tantrum"). But, being a sore loser will be remembered…
