Now the media is reporting on the Speaker race – almost as much as we have!

Gene Chandler or Bill O’Brien: which should be the next Speaker?  Yes, I am discounting Susan Emerson (who sounds like compromise is her whole raison d’etre of running) and John Reagan (who has made very little splash in this pool).  Thus, only Chandler or O’Brien are in the klieg lights.

We here at the ‘Grok have been saying for a while that the difference is very clear – and today, Landrigan in the Telegraph made our point for us in trying to show that Chandler has support:

Some committee chairmen and even close friends of Chandler’s have told associates that they, too, expect the worst, and that O’Brien will seize the gavel. But those in Chandler’s inner circle insist vehemently that this race isn’t over, that Chandler has a solid bloc of support and that the decision will be made by Republicans who haven’t made any commitment. They claim not a single past Republican chairman or vice chairman who is still in the Legislature is backing O’Brien, and that the 13-term Rep. Chandler enjoys the advantage among the most senior GOP lawmakers in the House.

Sure Chandler has support – the question is from whom?  Landrigan amplifies what we (and the multitude of emails pouring into us) have been saying for a while:

  • Do you wish to stay with the Old Guard, the Old Bulls?  Do you wish to stay with the same style structure and the same process that held sway before the Democrats took power in 2006?
  • Do you wish to support those that will more dynamically support foundational principles – not with mere campaign rhetoric but carrying out TEA Party / 9-12 / Constitutional values that the citizenry voted on Nov. 2?

We, the citizenry, do not have a direct vote on this.  However, you CAN influence it!  Don’t know who to contact?  Well shucks, our own Tom made it easy for you right here!  Old Guard vs "Back to the Founders" inspired NEW Republicans?

They vote on Thursday – you have two days.  Get off the couch and get to work!  Remember, November 2nd was the end of the beginning.  Nov 3rd was the start of the next step.
