So, the EPA wants to effectively shut down the US economy by using regulatory means, simply because those now in charge think they will save the world on the backs of working Americans? Once again, we see the lunacy of Progressives believing that they can make changes and have them stick. Their fallacy, akin to "red clown nose thinking", is that their world view only sees a static system. In other words, whatever they change will be effective because nothing else will change. They also seem to forget that things work in systems – and they don’t control most of it. From WattsUpWithThat:
Fatih Birol, of the IEA, said the gains from the tougher EU reduction target would roughly equal only two weeks of China’s emissions.
“The United States and China are essential for combating climate change globally. We estimate extending Europe’s plan to cut emissions from 20 to 30 percent would roughly equal China’s two-week gas output,” Birol said in an interview.
So, those in charge of the EU are willing to inflict much pain on their citizens….for what, two weeks? That’s like trying to use a bunch of cork stoppers in the rip of the hull of the Titanic.
And the EPA wishes to do the same?

The Chinese are just laughing at us. Sure, we need to be "clean" – but like many things, the Progressives have gone off the deep end without counting the cost or the effects of Unintended Consequences.
Systems are NOT static – they are dynamic. People will react in ways they haven’t even thought of.
Let’s take it to the other absurd end of the spectrum: after all, if economic output goes to zero, there wouldn’t be any industrial or residential emissions. But is that what we want?
Not me. Them? Am not sure about that….
