Turn Your Head And Cough

No, this only comes in 'crap' flavorLooks like the FDA is looking to change how we get our cough syrup.  They are holding a hearing on September 14th to review their fabulous new idea–to require a doctors prescription to get the same cough remedy you currently get over the counter.

You would need to go to and pay for a doctor visit to get a prescription, and then go to the pharmacy to get your cough medicine?  Why?  Drug abuse.

Big Government has the details.

Under new regulations being considered by the FDA at an upcoming September 14th hearing, if you develop a cough, you must go to the doctor, wait, then pay for an unnecessary visit for the same cough formula you’ve been using for years.

If you do not have time or money for a doctor visit, your untreated minor cough could lead to bronchitis, pneumonia or pleurisy – and increased health care costs for the patient and/or system.

And will insurance cover it?  At what cost now that the insurance bureaucracy is added to the equation?

Read the whole thing.  It’s just that much more of what we’ve come to expect from bureaucracy gone wild.
