It seems that with effectively a one Party rule system in power (i.e., the Progressive Democrats that have been taken over by the hard left Progressives (and remember, Progressivism is nothing except incremental socialism)), all of the ‘wet dream’ social engineering ideas of theirs have been slapped against the heart of of the American public.
Individual resourcefulness? We’ve got a Big Government bureaucrat for to do that for you! Self-governance? We’ve got a Big Government policy to remove that pesky idea! Want Government to leave you alone? Oh, now THAT they have no answer for (except an emphatic "NO! WE have to take care of you!").
I swear, the Progressive favorite phrase has to be "Government intrusion: super-size it!". After all, their ideas are just. so. great, right? They think so – the rest of us ain’t groovin’ to it at all:
This has GOT to be giving Progressives that twisted feeling -President Hopey Changey has a rather large problem:
- 45% of Americans STRONGLY disapprove of Obama
- 65% of Americans are angry at the Federal Government
- 60% want Obamacare repealed (w/50% holding repeal is best for the economy)
- Generic Republican Congressional candidate has a +12% advantage over Generic Democrat
One of the foundations of Progressive / Liberal thought is that we should allow ourselves to be governed by an elite cadre of "management scientists" that best know what is both good for us and what needs to be done to have an "efficient" society. It is obvious that they have done everything than can in the time they have had (with Obama’s Presidency and having controlled Congress since 2006).
It is also rather obvious that most of us don’t agree – but the Progressives…
aren’t listening to us. They are hellbent on doing what "is best for us" regardless of whether or not we actually agree. With Obama as Chief Progressive, I’m not surprised at the results like this: Gallup is reporting lowest ever support for Obama: 42%
Some practical reasons? Boortz challenged himself to list as many reasons in 60 seconds as he could:
* A government takeover of the healthcare system,
* A government takeover of the auto industry,
* Unmatched federal spending and deficits,
* Ballooning entitlements,
* Demonization of the private sector
* The glorification of all things government
* Empowering our enemies and angering our friends
* Race-based civil rights enforcement
* More burdensome regulations on the private sector
* Higher taxes for everyone
* More tax increases to come
* Pandering to terrorists
Then he added:
That .. plus the dawning realization that a bill is being incurred that your children and grandchildren might never be able to pay off. And we haven’t even touched the proposals for:
- Allowing unions to organize workplaces through intimidation;
- Further restraints and taxes on the free enterprise system through cap-and-tax;
- The promise of yet another amnesty for the illegal aliens who have invaded this country since the last amnesty in 1996.
- Studies on how to seize private retirement accounts and make them government property
- More government control of the press
What do Obama supporters really want to reach for?
* More government entitlements
* More redistribution of the wealth
* More food stamps
* More government housing
* More restraints on free enterprise
* Higher taxes on the evil, disgusting filthy rich
* 99 more months of unemployment checks
Now, go back and look at those percentages. My thought:
They’re still too high.
