In New Hamsphire, if you videotape a police officer…

…you may be arrested. And they may prosecute you. And you may go to prison. Think it can’t happen? It’s happening all over the U.S. And New Hampshire has a law similar to the one that a motorcyclist is facing in Maryland. He’s facing 16 years in prison. Here’s the story, and there’s the video of a cop pulling a pistol on a motorcyclist in a traffic stop.

How many years should a New Hampshire citizen face for videotaping a police officer? Do we want this kind of law on the books in our state? It will be interesting to see what the candidates have to say about it. Will they squirm out of it, and refuse to answer? Will they equivocate? You bet! But ask’em anyway: Make them say what their position is on whether videotaping police officers should be illegal.
