Following the announcement this week that Portsmouth businessman and activist leader Jack Kimball plans to seek the Republican nomination to be New Hampshire’s next governor, I went back to the GraniteGrok video archives and pulled out this excellent and rousing speech he delivered on the State House steps back in June.
While at this point no doubt many Republican insiders- members of the "good ‘ole boys (and gals) club" and the "business as usual" crowd are pooh-poohing Jack’s chances, some on the other side have taken notice. One prominent Seacoast Democrat noted in a lefty blog that
"Kimball does seem like a real candidate with an actual agenda, however, unlike Kenney and whoever it was who ran against Lynch in 2006 (was it Coburn?)"
While another wrote
"Kimball effectively touches that literally reactionary nerve, he speaks for real numbers of people."
Indeed. People are quite upset with all that’s been happening down in Washington. They are none too pleased with what has gone on in the state, either. The myriad of increased fees and taxes, with an understanding that New Hampshire’s most recent budget was built on a wing and a prayer, has many folks worried about the continued well being of the state and our distinct "advantage." Kimball puts a loud, clear voice to that concern.
