Perhaps Senator McCain should grab a big cup full…

by

So I get an email from John:

Doug,
Here’s the McCain we all loathe back to his old tricks. Too funny. I did not write, or speak ill of this idiot during the election which is more respect than this guy ever showed for his fellow Republicans.

With it he forwarded a link to this from the Politico:

In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.

What can I say? I do not disagree with my friend John at all on this. Has Senator McCain forgotten that politics is war by other means? A failure to exploit his opponent’s weakness is no doubt one of the contributing factors to his recent defeat. I never understood McCain’s scathing teardown of that poor guy doing a pre-town hall event warmup who happened to mention Barack Obama’s middle name. And to NOT question the Illinois junior-Senator’s acquaintances and relationships with the cast of characters including the likes of Rezko, Ayers, and Jeremiah Wright was akin to unilateral disarmament– always a bad idea during an important campaign.

The Blago controversy and its possible reach into Obama’s inner circle is only a surprise to those who relied on the mainstream media for information. This is Chacago politics. This is EXACTLY why Hannity, Malkin, and the rest (including us here at the ‘Grok) tried to sound the warning BEFORE the election. This is EXACTLY why McCain was so wrong to make such issues off-limits during the campaign. Sometimes, Senator McCain, nice guys really DO finish last…

And then I got another email from John a short while later:

Doug,
Lol, there goes Johnny. What a guy. He’s the type of scum that NEEDS to be forced out of the Republican party before I send them one thin dime. What BALLS to say something like this!

And this is what he was referencing:

Sen. John McCain said Sunday he would not necessarily support his former running mate if she chose to run for president.

Speaking to ABC’s “This Week,” McCain was asked whether Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could count on his support. “I can’t say something like that. We’ve got some great other young governors. I think you’re going to see the governors assume a greater leadership role in our Republican Party,” he said, citing Governors Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and Jon Huntsman of Utah.

And yet, just a few short months back, she was qualified, in his act of picking her to be his vice-presidential choice, to be next in line to him as president?

You know what, Senator McCain? We tried it your way. I even decided to join you, believing that the path to victory could be led by one such as yourself. Guess what? It didn’t work. Oh sure, while you were battling REPUBLICANS during the primary, you left no holds barred. Certainly some of us, myself included, expected that you would continue the battle and bring it to the Democrat in the general. You didn’t, and you lost. We’ll never know if perhaps, had more voters really understood more of Obama’s background, things might have been different. No matter what though, it’s over– and you’re over, Senator McCain. Just stop, already…
