Florida, like New Hampshire, allows citizens the right to carry concealed firearms. Would-be criminals never really know who’s packing and who is not. The Palm Peach Post reports on a recent incident at a West Palm Beach supermarket:
Grant was a daily customer who’d never been a problem, said Hernandez, who manages the large supermarket at 1000 36th St.
On Monday afternoon, Grant and Hernandez argued after he tried to enter the store through the exit.
"I said, ‘You know what? Take your business elsewhere,’" Hernandez said.
Grant then drew a handgun. Assistant manager Roberto Espinal, behind a side counter, drew his gun. When Grant turned that way, Hernandez pulled his gun.
Heh. Two to one against the bad guy. Read the whole story, as, in addition to the fact that a gun crime was prevented with yet more guns, the "good guys" also show a level of clear-headedness and decision-making that are indicative of the qualities of most of the gun owners that I know.
As I’ve often said, the only way to stop some random nut that pops up hell-bent on a rampage of destruction is the ability to immediately return fire. In this Florida instance, firearms effectively bridged that gap of time from when the act began till the cops arrived on the scene. Who knows what might have happened were the supermarket located in some "safe" no gun zone. This applies to school campuses as well…
