The second installment of the joint radio venture between
GraniteGrok and
AnkleBitingPundits is now "in the can" as they say. We were quite pleased to have
Liz Mair of
GOPProgress.com join us in the studio for some discussion on the upcoming election. (You might recall that I
posted about her "reasons to vote Republican" a short while back.)
.
What was really cool about her visit was that we were able to hook up as she
blogs her way through the New England states, visiting CT, RI, and NH to get an up close, on the ground feel of certain close campaign battles leading up to the election. Fortunately for us and our listeners, Liz made a detour to be with us on
"Meet the New Press".
.
The ensuing discussion was informative and lively. Liz bucks the conventional wisdom these days with her prediction that the Republicans will keep the House of Representatives- albeit with the slimmest of margins.
.
Having spent the morning over in NH’s 2nd Congressional District covering the Bass campaign, Liz reports that despite the recent tightening of the polls, local people are generally satisfied with "Charlie’s" performance. As she
reports in her blog
While the polling looks bad for Bass right now, is it conceivable that he could actually lose?
My instinct is no. It’s obvious, being in Bass’ district, and hearing word on the street, that voters simply aren’t disenchanted with him, overall. And those who are ambivalent may well find themselves won over by Bass’ focus on the positive– especially when he brings his positive message to them, face to face, as he travels across the district on his Winnebago tour during the last week before the election.
I agree. And while I have long been bothered by Charlie Bass’s comsummate "moderate" Republicanism, it may be just that that preserves this seat for the Republicans in the current political climate. Liz concurred with that sentiment during today’s discussion.
I urge readers to visit GOPProgress for Liz’s full reports on her trip through New England. Her political insight and in-person investigation combine for some excellent analysis. Oh- and there is always a fun online poll to take as well. Thanks Liz!
