Are you a concerned voter and taxpayer who cannot attend the traditional town meeting or a COOP school district meeting? Some fellow citizens tout the traditional meeting as a pure democracy, as the voters present at the traditional meeting make up the legislative body and decide on all matters.
Op-Ed
Night Cap: The Folly of HCR9
A recent article by Russ Payne (a supporter of the John Birch Society) made some outlandish claims that must not be allowed to stand unchallenged.
Thirty-One School & Supervisory Districts Reject Town Meeting Budgets
The total number of known Vermont school districts and supervisory unions that rejected proposed school budgets at Town Meetings now stands at 31.
“Apple’s Journal App Probably Isn’t a Privacy Nightmare” – But the Tech Certainly Is!
Your iPhone, Android, Tablet, Car, smart TV, or any other “Smart” device has huge vulnerabilities. Your phone is not the place to store private information, and if you think you are not being tracked by your phone, tablet, smartwatch, or even your car, you are sadly mistaken. Shutting off features does nothing but limit them to hackers and governments.
I Am Running for the School Board in the Governor Wentworth Regional School District
My name is Wesley Smallidge and I am running for the school board in the governor Wentworth regional school district because we need to do better. As a Kingswood graduate and lifelong Wolfeboro resident, I am concerned about what I see happening with our schools. We need to do better as a community because our children are falling behind academically.
Burlington Crime Up 23% This Year
The February Burlington Police Chief’s Report is out, and though only two months into the year already, the data is continuing to trend upward.
The report states, “Incidents in 2024 are up 23% compared to 2023. BPD is addressing more incidents than in years with 50% fewer patrol officers.
Local Government: Just Give Us The Money
High fives and many kudos to Kevin Tyson, “The Feudal Model of State-Funded Education.” He eloquently and accurately described the very concept I held in my mind as I wrote my call for help last weekend.
Night Cap: What’s Wrong with Censorship?
Is there such a thing as one single source of truth? Is it the government, social media platforms, TV, radio, a book, or a political party? Probably not. All of these things come from people, and we all make mistakes. Nobody is right all of the time about everything.
What Happened to True Liberalism?
Unfortunately, liberals have become mostly wacko. That is why ‘Liberal’ has become a word with negative connotations. The extreme religious right wing has always been the core of right-wing wackos. The transformation of liberals into “Karens” has been the failure of the mainstream liberals to maintain a core of self-respecting people who, in general, just want to help people.
Night Cap: It looks like DC in NH – An End to Voting Rights, Civil Rights …
Well before 2020, a host of non-partisan citizens committed to voter integrity found each other in a spirit of civic duty as directed under our NH Constitution. As our ranks and trust grew, so did our efforts and work, resulting in citizen audits demonstrating significant and ongoing violations of best practices outlined in the Sec. of State Voting Procedure Manual.
Night Cap: Shut It Down, Kick the Can, Act like Adults
Congressional leaders are sitting down with Dementia Joe to talk about how to spend your money. If you have been following along, you know that starting this Friday, the US Government may partially shut down. Congress has not yet agreed on a new funding deal (as I write this) for the federal government for the rest of 2024.
Deviant Enablers
Parents bring children to drag queen story time and brag about it. NH House Democrats walked out of a meeting disgusted by the subject matter and then voted to keep that subject matter in school libraries.
Check Out This Data On Public-School Enrollment.
In response to Steve’s article this week on Public Schools and Mental Health, “Another Example of Government Trying to Grow to Fix A Problem it Created,” check out Vermont’s data on its public school enrollment.
Outlaw the EPA in NH
Imagine a Mosquito at a nudist colony that knows what to do but doesn’t know where to start. Kudos to State Rep. Michael Granger and the five co-sponsors who know where to start! Introducing HB1294 to Nullify the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in NH will preserve state sovereignty and nullify (EPA) regulation enforcement.
Massachusetts Border Towns Ask New Hampshire for Help
As an abutting neighbor of the Granite State, an owner of rental properties in NH (who would be stupid enough to be a residential LL in MA), and a thoroughly kindred spirit of the “ole Yankee farmers” of NH, I ask you to come to the aid of your brothers in kind south of your border.
The New Hampshire Lawyer No Priest Shall Name…
Attorney General’s are releasing investigations on many Catholic Diocese’s. Michigan and Maryland are the most recent. Seldom do these reports have the names of priests or lawyers misspelled. I see no misspelled names except for in the New Hampshire Attorney General’s investigative report on the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire.
Op-Ed: House Leadership?
Despite prompting from House Rs, the leadership refused to reconsider HB1212, which Republicans won and had ITL’d. That was the first of a waterfall of mistakes that cost big losses in the House for conservatives, solely due to inadequate House leadership.
Urgent Call to Action: Oppose HB1050-FN
HB1050-FN, which claims to wish to establish a voluntary waiver of the right to purchase firearms, is up for a floor vote this Thursday and needs your immediate attention. This bill poses a significant threat to our rights and freedoms, introducing measures that could potentially impact gun ownership and individual liberties broadly.
