California Fried Wildlife

Mike covered this a while back, (maybe he can add the link I can’t find here).  Massive solar farms kill tens of thousands of bird annually.  Workers call them ‘Steamers’ for the rapid evacuation of moisture, previously keeping the bird alive, that escapes as the critter is quick-fried in flight before the carcass drops to earth.

Recent news of this environmental “catastrophe” comes to us on an in-flight Bird Cooker in the Mojave Desert…

The facility has concerned environmentalists in the past, as its construction bladed over 3,500 acres of virgin desert. Being California, the state government required BrightSource to relocate a bunch of desert gopher tortoises to the tune of $22 million. The installation also endangers pilots flying the busy Los Angeles–Las Vegas corridor; they can be dazzled by the intense light.

RINO Alert – Michael Brewster (Merrimack 8)

Michael Brewster is another long time Democrat running as a Republican in New Hampshire. Budget Writers Did Not Anticipate…

NHGOP WoodshedBudget writers did not anticipate…human nature, actually.  They never do.   The Democrat parties top-down, centrally-planned utopia completely ignores human nature, which is why Conservatives get so aggravated with Democrats and then Republicans who play along (whether they have bought in or given up).

From Skip’s post last night on unexpected budget issues relating to Medicare expansion…

Speaking to his colleague Maureen Dowd, … Read more

Centrally planned and run economies…

Very disappointed to hear the news coming out of Washington DC today. Although not a perfect law by any stretch of the imagination, the Affordable Care Act is a step in the right direction to solving our nation’s healthcare crisis. I know it stands in direct opposition to the views shared by many in my party, but access to affordable healthcare should be a opportunity given to everyone, not just those that can afford it. #NewGOP #ModerateAndProud #NotDrinkingTheTea

Why is the Senate Republican Majority PAC Getting Involved in a Primary? (Updated)

NHGOP Woodshed
This Woodshed is getting one heck of workout lately…

Update: I am told there were no pics on the Mailer.  My Apologies.  I have made relevant corrections.

The NH Senate Republican Majority PAC didn’t just waste $5000.00 on a mailer that lied about Dave Boutin’s second amendment record.   They spent it to endorse in a Republican primary.  Note to Chuck Morse: I don’t think this PAC exists to support sitting State Senators who just happen to support your leadership.

But how nice of you to prove what detectors have been saying about establishment Republican money picking sides in primaries.  It is so Washington DC of you.

Why is the Senate Republican Majority PAC Getting Involved in ANOTHER Primary?

Republican Steve Kenda is in a primary against sitting State Senator Nancy Stiles.

Guess who sent out a mailer supporting Nancy Stiles?  That’s Right….the Senate Republican Majority PAC.

“Paid for and authorized by Senate Republican Majority PAC.” (Feel free to fisk the mailer, it’s a target rich environment)

That’s two (here’s number one). PDF of the Stiles Mailer is on the jump.

Was There A Grassy Knoll in Ferguson Missouri?

I’m aware of the chaos in Ferguson Missouri and some of the why’s and what-fore’s, but not the fine particulars.   Those following might find this an interesting addition to their knowledge base. Big news if true as it seemingly contradicts a key takeaway from Michael Baden’s autopsy, that none of the shots that hit Brown … Read more

Montana Senate Race – Democrats Can Kiss That Seat Goodbye…

Long Story Short, Max Baucus was a Democrat albatross shipped off to China as an ambassador (to save some face).  His sterling ‘conservative Democrat’ replacement was busted for having plagiarized the majority of his Army War College thesis.  He bailed.

Left to decide at the Montana Democrat Party State Convention,  the curdled cream of Montana’s left wing crop, cloistered amongst themsleves, picked the candidate they really, really (really-really) wanted.  A Total moon bat.

Shaheen Backer Tom Steyer Was Still Profiting From Coal A Few Weeks Ago

Tom Steyer's dirty coal_handsTom Steyer has been pouring money into New Hampshire in support of Democrat Jeanne Shaheen.  He’s the Green energy global warming billionaire buying up the US Senate for Democrats.   Steyer is one of those evil banker types who made a chunk of his fortune investing in coal,  two strikes Democrats dismissed when he promised to spend $100 million or more on Democrat Senate campaigns, including our own Jeanne Shaheen.

This point comes home to New Hampshire again with a recent revelation that while Steyer’s PAC’s have been spending money attacking Democrat opponents on their support for cheap, affordable, and abundant energy we can actually use, Steyer continued to profit from investments in coal and gas.

Boston Politicians Mad Because They Didn’t Think Of It?

parkingBoston Herald- Pols should park Ego For Haystack App

The City Council — as well as Mayor Marty Walsh — is poised to ban the Baltimore-based app from expanding into Boston with its service allowing anyone with a parking space to sell access to that space. In other words, if you’re just about to leave a coveted spot right in front of Sonsie on Newbury Street, you can charge $15 for someone to come meet you there at the exact time of your departure and take your space. But city officials claim the app will spawn all manner of road rage, potentially taking up valuable police resources. They contend that beyond that, it’s improper if not borderline illegal to “sell” city property — i.e., city parking spaces.

GrokTALK! Aug 16th, 2014 Live Stream

Update: well, Skip is REALLY under the weather – and is barely functional.  Proven that he can’t think straight, can’t talk straight (compared to his normal ramblings), and forgot to bring, amongst all the other bags, the livestream computer.  So, besides the fact that he left late due to illness, there is no livestreaming today.  We will be recording the event and posting it later.  Apologies.

Fight Money in Politics With…Money in Politics.

Larry Lessig has been promoting the idea of publicly funded elections, and fighting corporate money in politics.  He is the impetus behind ‘NH Rebellion,’ a local effort to advance the progressive narrative against corporate speech.  Lessig’s overriding theme has come to a head with his latest effort to combat money in politics, Mayday PAC.

The group, the brainchild of Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig and GOP media strategist Mark McKinnon, is trying to reduce the influence of money in politics by helping to elect candidates who have pledged to reform campaign finance laws.

Lessig and McKinnon are spending millions to elect candidates to public office.

All Goffstown ‘Republican’ Candidates Should Just Take A Pledge or Two…or Three….

Andrew Hemingway takes CNHT Pledge
You could take the CNHT Pledge Like this gentleman did…

I’ve been having an invigorating debate on Facebook with Pam Manney about some candidates running as Republicans in Goffstown.  I like Pam, but I think we’re just going to have to disagree on a few things.  She seems to think I am making claims without evidence, particularly with regard to candidate Barbara Griffin.  I guess years of checklists showing her voting Democrat in primaries and General elections is not evidence.

Like I said, we’ll have to agree to disagree.

But I do have some suggestions that might help the ‘”Republicans” she is supporting clear up any concerns.

BELKNAP COUNTY CHAIR DOCUMENTING STOLEN SIGNS?

Earlier today, Friday, August 15, 2014, Alan Glassman, Chair of the Belknap County GOP, was found trespassing at the former Alton home of Jane Cormier, candidate for NH Senate District 16. Mr. Glassman, driving a red Ford SUV with license plate 7289, was seen taking photographs surreptitiously of the home (under repair prior to being placed on the market) and the truck belonging to Jane’s husband, Carlos Martinez. Photographs were taken by Mr. Glassman, or the unidentified female passenger in the front seat, from on the property itself. They then drove to the parking lot of a small hardware store located nearby, where they appeared to be examining the photographs just taken. They returned a second time, slowly passing the home to photograph from across the street. They turned around once more to photograph a 3rd time, at which time Mr. Martinez was able to positively identify Glassman. Alton Police confirmed that the license plate did indeed belong to Glassman who told police he was “documenting stolen signs.”

At 1:37 pm, Mr. Glassman sent an email blast stating “Hi All,
