State-by-State – Laws Protecting Student Free Speech

Campus Reform has released a report on what states are doing to protect Free Speech on campus. New Hampshire doesn’t have any special laws beyond the ones our founders left us. You’d like to think that the constitution is enough, New Hampshire – Codified Protection of First Amendment Rights on Campus New Hampshire has no laws expressly … Read more

Bernie Sanders: “If we expanded Medicaid [to] everybody…we would bankrupt the nation.”

Bernie Sanders Communist FistJeanne Shaheen probably isn’t worried about her support of Bernie Sanders 2017 Medicaid for everyone plan, but Bernie Sanders was–30 years ago.

Back in 1987, a much younger Bernie Sanders apparently had that sense too. He warned that expanding Medicaid, the jointly run federal-state health care program for the poor and disabled, to everyone in the country would “bankrupt the nation.”

Democrat Socialists Admit Violence is Intrinsic to their Political Philosophy

Antifa 1930 and TodayWe’ve always known Democrats are violent by nature and now they are admitting it.

Anti-fascist activists, or “Antifa,” increasingly mobilized in the wake of President Trump’s election, are unapologetic about what they describe as the necessary use of violence to combat authoritarianism.

While both experts on the movement and activists within it emphasize that not everyone who participates in anti-fascist activism engages in violence, they say the use of force is intrinsic to their political philosophy.

Before you go off half-cocked about how not all Democrats are violent, remind me what the not-so-violent factions are doing to curb the excesses of the violent faction?

The answer you’re looking for is “nothing.”

Modern American Red Shirts Silence Speaker Appearance with Threat of Violence

freedom_of_speechEventually, the people will do your work for you. That should be Antifa’s slogan. Because that is, after all, the point of Antifaschistische AktionIt is also the purpose of Islamofascist terrorism. To make people behave as your ideology requires out of fear and intimidation.

Assumption College in Massachusetts has canceled the appearance of speaker Charles Murray, not because of an actual threat of violence but because of the potential for violence. Antifa could show up to protest Murray’s appearance on campus, and they feel ill prepared for such conflict.

Antifa wins. Professor Bernard Dobski, chair of the Department of Political Science, is not happy about that.

If American conservatism means anything…

If American conservatism means anything, then, it means the things found at the beginning of America, when it became a nation. The classics teach us that forming political bonds is natural to people, written in their nature, stemming from the divine gift they have of speech and reason. This means in turn that the Declaration of Independence, … Read more

The Democrat Party’s Declining Electoral Options in New Hampshire

Elaine Andres Ahern
NH Democrat disdain for New Hampshire voters is nothing new

During Hillary’s failed presidential campaign the Democrat National Party, of which New Hampshire Democrat Ray Buckley is a Vice Chair, abandoned white working class voters.

Recently, New Hampshire State Party Chairman Ray Buckley labeled rural and unregistered voters as white supremacists.

I presume this means that he can not allow any of his candidates to pursue them. So how is a state party to grow it’s voter base if the citizens you’ve got are either not worth your time, too unsophisticated, or too racist?

New Hampshire Has the Highest Median Income in the US

New Hampshire Map - Cropped

For a state with no minimum wage the people who live here are doing rather well.

The mean average hourly wage for the entire state rose from $22.62/hour in 2014 to $24.03/hour in the 2016 report (+6.2%). The mean entry level wage in New Hampshire is $10.66/hour, $3.41 above the federal minimum wage. The median wage is up to $18.39/hour. And if you have “experience,” your average wage is $31.71/hour.

New Hampshire has the lowest poverty rate in the nation and in 2016 they had (not for the first time) the highest median income in the country.

New Hampshire’s Out-of-State-Tuition Paying Matriculating Morons

Not sure if voting illegallyOne of the imagined hardships of being a voting age progressive social justice warrior marooned on a New Hampshire college campus is that your rights are continually being suppressed.

Every election season out-of-state-tuition paying matriculators are told by New Hampshire Democrats that they can vote in New Hampshire, while Republicans in the Granite State think that–seeing as they are paying out of state tuition–they should be voting in the state from whence the out-of-state-tuition is paid.

A Culture of Violence to Intimidate All Speech

In part two of my chat with Rich Girard yesterday we talk about Antifa’s rotten roots, and the overreaching goal of their so-called Antifaschistische Aktion: to silence opponents by empowering the government to pick and choose what people can say, where, and when. Part I

Keene State Announces 5.5 Million Dollar Deficit – Guess Why?

It takes the Keene Sentinel 12 paragraphs to explain why the State college has a 5.5 million dollar hole in its budget this year. Ricaurte attributed the drop in revenue to lower-than-expected enrollment numbers, which she said are down a projected 9 percent for the current academic year. Fewer first-year students. That sounds familiar. I wonder … Read more

Ask Martha How She Does It

Apparently, the City of Portsmouth has a problem with people renting out apartments through Airbnb. “Officials do not track Airbnb rentals specifically, and city attorney Robert Sullivan says he estimates the total number of cease and desist orders issued this year for short-term rentals is less than 10.” “Sullivan explained on Thursday that unless something … Read more

Hurricane Update from Tampa

We should get another update this morning, which I’ll add below this one but here’s Merrimack, NH storm chaser Josh Moore outside in Tampa last night leaning into 80 mph gusts with rain.

Obama May Purchase Sea-Level Property on Martha’s Vineyard

On August 30th, Realtor.com reported speculation that the Obamas, former President, and the Mrs., are interested in two parcels along Red Gate Road in Martha’s Vineyard. Both are water-front abutting the sea and or Squibnocket pond, which will become part of the Atlantic should more than a decade of scaremongering from the Climatologist in chief come to … Read more

Indoctrination and Free Speech

This morning on Girard at Large (part one of two) Rich and I discussed the leftward decline of SNHU, the search for a higher Ed solution that doesn’t come with as much social justice baggage (indoctrination boot camps), and how some schools obsessed with progressive “diversity” indoctrination find themselves losing money from declining enrollment.

Amherst College Republicans taunted with ‘KKK’ flyers

First-Year Quad Pano (1) 1000x368 Amherst CollegeIf there was ever such a thing as a hate crime could this be that?

The first Amherst College Republicans meeting of the year was targeted by flyers taped to the windows of the meeting space saying, “THIS IS OUR CAMPUS, NOT THE KLAN’S.”

The group claims on its Facebook page that “while the flyers are related to another incident on campus that happened September 5, the deliberate placement of the text facing the room where it was known an ACR meeting was occurring leads us to suppose this is an accusation of ACR being connected to the KKK.”

Labeling groups of people with whom you may disagree something as awful as that sounds narrow-minded, biased, discriminatory, and (don’t hold your breath) contrary to the school’s inclusion and diversity mumbo-jumbo.

Oberlin Follows Mizzou and Evergreen – Enrollment Drops, Financial Woes

OBERLIN COLLEGEOberlin College is at the forefront of social justice outrage hoaxes but until recently had not reported any real-world consequences. See what I did there? Real world? Mizzou went full-stupid with their fake outrage which cost themand cost them and cost them, and then cost them some more.

Evergreen took it to another level, and now they are paying the price. And now the snowflakes at fragile artsy Oberlin have set themselves up to fail with their hoaxes and nonsense which (you should think to their drama-queen delight) parents and potential future students have been watching.
