Co-founder of GraniteGrok, my concern is around Individual Liberty and Freedom and how the Government is taking that away. As an evangelical Christian and Conservative with small "L" libertarian leanings, my fight is with Progressives forcing a collectivized, secular humanistic future upon us. As a TEA Party activist, citizen journalist, and pundit!, my goal is to use the New Media to advance the radical notions of America's Founders back into our culture.

You think there’s a reason for people not believing in their government?

From The Enterprise Blog – a snippet from Gov. Mitch Daniels (R-IN):

He also warned that the “whole principle of self-governance as we know it in this country is on trial” as government doesn’t give Americans due credit for choosing life necessities from healthcare to schooling to light bulbs.

…Daniels took a shot at President Obama’s 2008 campaign slogan, “Change you can believe in,” by noting that government needs to promote “Change that believes in you.”

Who believes in you?  Our Founders did – self-governance was one of their main pillars; laid out in the Declaration of Independence and carried out in the Constitution.  But it wasn’t Government that they had in their mind – it was our mind.  Self-governance? No, not our style of Government that we would govern ourselves.  No, not that we would just elect those that would then govern with our consent, but that each of us would govern ourselves.  Their radical idea was that WE, each one of us, had the capability AND THE RIGHT to govern ourselves – Free men with inalienable Rights given to us by our Creator God.  They not just wrote up our form of Government but set up a philosophy by which we became the richest and most power nation in the world.  And we used to be the most free.

GrokTV Event: NH GOP Chair Wayne MacDonald

Well, still some more video from last week as I continue to play catch up. 
 
Three weeks ago, there was a special election in Rockingham 14 (NH) to replace a State Rep. who had resigned.  At the time, Republican Unionist Kevin Janvrin beat both the Democrat Unionist and the Libertarian Brendan Kelly (who we still think, had he been elected, would be more in line with the current agenda than Janvrin).  After the election results were announced, I saw what was said on Pindell’s site and had my own thoughts on the results – especially what was said by newly ascended NH GOP Chair Wayne MacDonald and the NH House Majority Leader DJ Bettencourt concerning this:

Collective nonsense…

It is clear one of the reasons why it seems that politics is so disjoint the last few years – we have two totally opposite philosophies of governance and the role of the individual vs the collective in them.  It should be rather obvious that we at the ‘Grok hold that it is, like the Founders original vision, that government was to protect the Rights, Liberty, and Freedom of the Individual.  Progressives, stemming from their Socialist roots, hold that the collective should always hold sway when talking about individuals.

Certainly, Elizabeth Warren (formerly running Obama’s "Consumer Financial Protection Agency" and now trying to oust Senator Scott Brown (R-MA)) shows her disdain for the successful individual in my post of yesterday.  Cheering for an individual who has "made it", or nodding in success that someone has achieved the American Dream?  Not so much – in the video, this pointy headed Hahvad over-bearing Progressive Professor shows the disdain she has for American capitalism and the spirit succeed.  Hold up that entrepreneur as an example to follow?  Not so much.  In her mind, one to tear down, for the lack of a better work, for the lack of gratitude to society for their success.

You Owe US! You’ll never be anything without US!

This is why I hate that phrase "give back".  Commonly used to indicate doing something to benefit a community, it translates to be like an entitlement by and to society.  An obligation, as in "what are YOU doing to ‘give back’?".  After all, you owe us.  Yet, I thought we were a "free people"!

Not according to Elizabeth Warren!  She was supposed to be ‘Bam’s head selected head of the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency (you know those Progressives, have to protect "their children" who can’t make their way in the world; here, take Daddy Govt’s hand). In the FRONT of her Progressive / Socialist mind lives that normally "back of the head" sense of obligation to society, and that on steroids.  No, it is not that you HAVE to "give back" at some point but that Society gets to TAKE back  and that extends to any credit for your success – and she gets shrill about it (added emphasis by me):

 Below is a transcript of Warren’s remarks:

“I hear all this, you know, ‘Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever. No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own — nobody.

“You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police-forces and fire-forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory — and hire someone to protect against this — because of the work the rest of us did.

“Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea. God bless — keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is, you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”
