Musings about Plan b and that this “is NOT for the children”

In a letter Monday to U.S. District Judge Edward R. Korman in New York, who has called the age restrictions “politically motivated” and “scientifically unjustified,” the administration said it would drop its appeal in the case and abide by Korman’s order to make Plan B One-Step contraceptive pills available to women and girls of any age without a prescription.

(H/T: The Home Front – Who Decided My Daughters are Women)

Plan B – the “emergency contraceptive”.  Contraceptive – sure thing, bucko.  The sperm and the egg have fused to create a zygote at that point  – a new life HAS been created.  Plan B kills that new life by keeping that zygote, that baby, from being implantable in the woman’s uterus.  I disagree with those that say that a life never existed because without implantation, that zygote could never become a unborn baby as it would never become “a fetus”.  All human babies need nourishment, care, and attention both before the actual time of birth / physical separation from the mom as well as after.  If it is not cherished after the birthing, that baby will die as well, so I consider “emergency contraceptive” to be a “emergency canard”.

You know, Government should first do no harm.  Yet, what harm will this do to the children, who for the sake of “reproductive rights”, who have been moved from being innocent children to being  one of those “women of all ages” by simple dint of a judge’s order?

Oh Kelly?? About your upcoming Immigration vote – Part 2

Kelly, another question for you.  First, the background (just in case the actual whole bill has not yet been read, emphasis mine): Under the existing Senate immigration bill, immigrants who have been in the United States illegally can obtain a provisional legal status after paying fines and meeting certain preconditions. But this population would have … Read more

Guest Post by NH State Sen. Andy Sanborn: On Medicaid expansion, we should look before we leap

Expanding Medicaid is not as good a deal for New Hampshire as it sounds.

We all know that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The Senate Republicans also believe that taxpayers deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent. Likewise, we have an obligation to carefully consider any new potential increase of government entitlements, which will affect both those being charged to pay for the program and the recipients. It is this thinking that led the Republican-controlled state Senate to defer making a rash decision of leaping into Medicaid expansion before carefully considering all options.

Due to the lack of any plan put forth by Gov. Maggie Hassan to consider how Medicaid expansion could be implemented, the Senate has taken it upon itself to do the work. Frankly, we did not say “yes” or “no.” We recognized that neither the governor nor the Democrat-controlled House has considered the policy implications. Voters expect the Legislature to consider policy changes and create a plan that is in the best interest of the state, and we plan to do just that.

So while the governor frets about the potential loss of free money and looks to find ways to circumvent the legislative process, the Senate is taking a measured view of Medicaid expansion. Despite the criticism from some that the Senate has killed expansion, the reality is that nothing could be further from the truth. The Senate budget is specific. We believe we should better understand and analyze the options, do the math, and then make a decision.

So, what is there to consider with Medicaid expansion? Actually, a lot.

Separation of Church and State? For a Christian at a high school Graduation, but not for an Islamic footbath?

Remington Reimer Silenced
Screenshot from YouTube

It is graduation time around the country, and once again, wussy school districts all over just can’t stand the idea of having to face up to ANYone complain that “Thou Shalt Not Pray to God, Thou Shalt Not Praise [the Christian] God, or mention The Bible – else, “they” will sue us.  Yes, we wet ourselves when confronted by controversy in this Publicly constructed Political Correctness Jail that we have built around ourselves.  Like this poor fellow, who simply wanted, at his gradumacation, say “Thank You” – and had his mic cut off.  And now, the Joshua Independent School District has gone all CYA (read more and watch the video at Hot Air).

And then there is the flip side – as this country seems to be sliding more and more to be Orwell’s 1984, it seems that some are more equal than other.  Aw heck – there is a “positive” discrimination towards Muslims as everyone tip-toes around Islamic Jihadi terrorism, proclaiming that Islam is the Religion of Peace.  Why?  Go ahead, draw a cartoon of Muhammad and hand deliver it to a radical fundamentalist mosque – doubtful you’ll get the Red Carpet treatment (and yes, I will resist typing the snarky comment here – just to make you think).

Back to topic – so a high school grad can’t mention God.  The ACLU and the militant Atheist groups sue to not have graduations in churches (even if they are the only venue that can handle such crowds), to remove creches at Christmas, remove the 10 Commandments, free Bibles from the Gideons in hotels…yeah, the whole 9 yards.

Oh Kelly?? About your upcoming Immigration vote – Part 1

My Jr US Senator, Kelly Ayotte, make the rounds of the Sunday morning talking head shows to make her announcement that she is in McCain’s sidecar when it comes to voting for the Gang of Eight’s Amnesty Immigration Plan (she also sent me a personal email – hope the NSA read it!):

It will take tough decisions to solve our nation’s immigration problems. After careful review of this bill, I will support it and plan to vote for amendments offered to strengthen it.

This legislation secures the border first, with more border agents, more fencing, and better surveillance technology.

Eyup – border first.  Right.  Really?  Um, that’s not what one of the Gang of Eight Republicans, Marco Rubio himself, said on Univision yesterday (emphasis mine):

“Let’s be clear,” Rubio said. “Nobody is talking about preventing the legalization. The legalization is going to happen. That means the following will happen: First comes the legalization. Then come the measures to secure the border. And then comes the process of permanent residence.”

In most of his public appeals for the Gang of Eight bill, Rubio has stressed its enforcement provisions, saying that border security must come before immigrants are granted legal permanent resident status. What he has not stressed so much is the fact that the bill would legalize the 11 million almost immediately, after they have passed background checks and paid some sort of fine. That would happen before any new security measures are completed, or even begun.

Yes, Rubio is one of Schumer’s  “our Republicans”.  What say you now, Kelly, since Rubio has now has contradicted himself and said “Amnesty first – securing the border later”?  OUR border, Kelly.  How long can a country stand when it cannot control its own border?  How WORSE is it when a country REFUSES to control its own border?

Now add this factoid about border security law that has already been passed:

A female libertarian wrote a lot of letters to the Canadian government, complaining about the treatment of captive insurgents (terrorists) being held in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities. She demanded a response to her letter. She received back the following reply:

Dear Concerned Citizen,

Thank you for your recent letter expressing your profound concern of treatment of the Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists captured by Canadian Forces, who were subsequently transferred to the Afghanistan Government and are currently being held by Afghan officials in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities.

Our administration takes these matters seriously and your opinions were heard loud and clear here in Ottawa . You will be pleased to learn, thanks to the concerns of citizens like yourself, we are creating a new department here at the Department of National Defense, to be called ‘Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers’ program, or L.A.R.K. for short.

In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided, on a trial basis, to divert several terrorists and place them in homes of concerned citizens such as yourself, around the country, under those citizens’ personal care. Your personal detainee has been selected and is scheduled for transportation under heavily armed guard to your residence in Toronto next Monday.

So, what does this mean for the alarming Warmists?

By ‘Warmists”, I mean those folks that believe that the Earth is warming AND that human activity is responsible for it (if not entirely, certainly a large proportion of it).  Thus, just like the “Coolists” that I read back in the 70s who declared that a New Ice Age was imminent.  Now, between Warming and Ice Age, I’d take the former as the the latter is MUCH more dangerous to humankind – one can grow food in the heat (yeah, let’s stick it to the GMO h8ters for a second) but kinda hard to harvest wheat on an ice field.

In either case, both sets of folks had the same solution – that the Smart People were / are to be put in charge and implement their ideas so as to save us all (or, some of us, as a lot of these Smart People also believe that most of humankind should be wiped out anyways – so either event should make them happy but gets the question as to why we should let these Watermelons (green on the outside, Red on the inside (and I refer to the historic use of Red in describing Communists and Socialists) totally change society in the first place?  And in the case of the Warmists, they have been using Climate Change Models to show how bad things are going to get, and have been screaming that scientists are all in consensus that Warming is Real and We are Responsible.

CMIP5-73-models-vs-obs-20N-20S-MT-5-yr-means1Sure – but what about this?  Aren’t the modeling projections supposed to mirror ACTUAL observations?  Isn’t the Scientific Method all about seeing an event, setting up a hypothesis of what might be happening, and then carrying experimentation (in this case, via computer modeling).  Then, and most importantly, see if those experimental results actually match what happens in real life?

Um, Warmists? Looks like your modeling, upon which we are to believe sufficiently to trade our Liberty and Freedom (and most of democracy along with it)  for their ideas of a low energy and low standard of living future (if indeed, anything above cave level if the Sierra Club’s maniacal protestations and machinations against any use of fossil fuels is to believed) , is having a major malfunction?

Progressivism – the cult culture of selfishness

Oh, they will never say it is is such – directly.  They’ll use other words to mask it, hoping (knowing) that the Low Information Voter (who knows more about Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy with “Daddy Babby” Kanye or what’s with American Idol / The Voice / America’s Got Talent than who their Senators or Congressmen are) will only “hear” the words and never ponder them.  Heck, answer me this – how many of these same folks remember from school how our government even works?  And with the current state of our Educational system, how many of them truly understand the difference between a Right, an “earned privilege” and an entitlement?  Words have meanings and these are all different.

Obama (and most Progressives are, too), however, is BANKING on the fact that most people don’t and that he can use a word outside of its definition to cement in a fundamental change to a word – and going backward, our Founding Documents.  As Grokster Susan pointed out (she beat me to it!), Obama had the temerity to say:

Quality, affordable care is not some earned privilege – it’s a right

No, it has never been nor should a Right be ever be defined as something that is simply given or afforded to someone:

  • Right – an attribute associated to someone simply for being a human; in the US, our Rights are enumerated  in the Constitution (mostly).
  • Earned Privilege – status obtained through work or via meritocrisy; not something that accrues simply for the act of being alive
  • Entitlement – a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group; also : funds supporting or distributed by such a program

And that is where Obama wishes for the Masses to delude themselves in thinking that there exists a “Right” to healthcare.  Hey, if someone wants to go and purchase healthcare supplies and give themselves “health care”, but my guest.  Please note that it costs no other person anything for you to exercise that Right .  If you wish to speak, I am not obligated to pay anything for you to speak (including paying attention) – ditto for the other Rights accorded to us as being US Citizens.  However,  to believe Obama is correct that healthcare is a Right for you to independently exercise is to also believe that you have the Right to place someone else into servitude to provide that care – commonly called slavery.

Only one of these Obama sentences are true

I could not leave it alone – Grokster Susan quoted a partial of what Obama said to Dem donors at yet another campaign stop, and given that I quoted it yesterday during our first half hour on GrokTalk!, I figured I’d requote it:

The truth of the matter is Michael and I — I know that there are a few Republicans here in the audience — if you talk to us, it turns out we’re pretty common-sense folks. We don’t think government can do everything. We don’t think that top-down solutions are the right way to go. We believe in the free market. We believe in a light touch when it comes to regulations. We don’t want to tax all businesses out of business. But we do think that there’s a role to play for government.”

I’m betting that any Conservative will get it right away.  If not, after the jump

Congressional Democrats – you DON’T deserve to be tax exempt

“It’s everybody’s right to participate in politics, and well you should,” Blumenauer said on Tuesday at the House Ways and Means Committee hearing into allegations that the IRS targeted conservative organizations, including NOM. “But I think having organizations parading as being social welfare organizations and then being involved in political combat harkens back to why the (IRS 501(c)(4) statute – a hundred years ago – said that they were prohibited, and I wholeheartedly agree.”

NOM – National Organization for Marriage.  It is a conservative group that educates and advocates for traditional marriage.  It’s Chair, John Eastman answered back:

“The notion that defending traditional marriage doesn’t qualify as a defense of the public good is beyond preposterous,” Eastman said. “And how sad it is, Rep. Doggett, how sad it is that efforts to educate about our Constitution have become a partisan political issue that you think people ought not to get tax-exempt status for that.”

In his opening statement, Eastman said the IRS had released the NOM’s tax information in 2012 to the gay rights advocacy group the Human Rights Campaign, and although much of the tax documents were redacted, the names of donors were left in place. The HRC posted the documents on its website, Eastman said.

Now, the Human Rights Campaign organization (HRC) is the leading militant Gay rights organization in the US.  It does way more than “dabbling” in politics itself – and is also a tax exempt organization.  But that is not my point – it is what Progressivism has done to Civil Society: “…then being involved in political combat harkens back to why the (IRS 501(c)(4) statute – a hundred years ago“.

Please, Anthony Weiner, don’t

Anthony Weiner sextingLean forward

That’s the watchword for MSNBC (you know, the cable news channel that finally admitted that being on its knees for the Obama agenda is not really “covering news”).  “Forward” was the watchword for Obama’s 2012 campaign.  It’s also the word used by Socialists and Communists all over to cover up which direction they really want to take a country – which is backward to a time when only a ruling elite would make the decisions for everyone else (as opposed to those crazy radicals known as the Founding Fathers and TEA Party / 9-12ers / Constitutionalists / Libertarians who want YOU to make the decisions for yourself).

Lean Forward

Certainly, while MSNBC thinks that is what it is doing (or at least its Marketing Dept believes that it is) is moving forward, the only thing that can be said is that its audience rating is doing what Socialists and Communists actually do to countries – taking them backward and downward.  So, do you thinks THIS guy can make NYC “Lean Forward“?  Not so much, from a recent campaign stop (emphasis mine, reformatted):

How dare you?” Brooklyn political activist Chris Owens asked, according to Politicker. “I’m a parent. I’ve got two sons. I represent the Democratic Party. I am outraged and disgusted by you, both by what you did and by the fact that you have the arrogance to run for mayor now.”  Weiner calmly answered, “I appreciate the question, Chris, and I know that some people will feel that way.” But then the brash, scandal-scarred pol went on the offensive, accusing Owens of holding a grudge over a past political slight, BuzzFeed reported. “Well listen, Chris, you have a right to grandstand, and I have a a right to answer the question,” a bristling Weiner said, according to BuzzFeed.

“If my mistakes, and the way I compounded them by being dishonest about them, disqualifies me, then so be it,” he added.

“But I am still gonna be out there leaning forward and talking about these ideas.”

So, Anthony Wiener, better known as the CongressCritter who tweeted his junk to lots of folks and who NOW believes, a mere two years later, can “Lean Forward” to victory to become the next Mayor of NYC?  From a twit of a Nannyist to twitter of a real Sexter – maybe NYC deserves such a mayor.

A voice suffering from Government Tyranny – simply for being TEA Party – Part 1

Am on vacation this week – a “staycation” in doing errands as well as finally starting to approach the long list of “honey-do’s” (as well as long list of tasks of my own).  Both have long laid fallow resulting in, well, “the house suffering from benign neglect from blogging”.  A week won’t cut it down substantially, but the habit will be formed (er, I hope, under  (long suffering) TMEW’s stern visage).

As I was go thither and fro, TMEW had the news on TV on and I caught a bit of the testimony from some of the TEA Party leaders who had been targeted by the IRS simply for having “TEA Party” in their names.  I have transcribed one so far and am doing one more now – of the six people who testified to Congress, I think these are representative of all of the people who felt their country slipping away these last few years and deliberately being transformed from its original ideals at the time of our Founding and simply felt it was time to educate their fellow citizens and roust them from their political slumber.  One such lady is Becky Gerritson of the Watumbka (AL) TEA Party:

If you do not have the 7 minutes to watch, at least glance through the transcription (I got “most of it”) to see what was important – the fear that our Government that was meant to be public servants to Citizens is now turning that table to that of a Public Master to a public servitude.

A voice suffering from Government Tyranny – simply for being TEA Party – Part 2

“I think the IRS needs to fix its labeling machine: we’re the San Fernando Valley TEA Party not Occupy Oakland”

In addition to Becky Gerritson, another TEA Party founder by the name of Dr. Karen Kenny  of the San Fernando Valley TEA Party testified to the Congressional committee on the targeting that they received from the IRS (emphasis mine):

Thank you Mr. Chairman.  John Adams knew that facts are stubborn things. In this district, facts are hidden under the mantle of office.  They get used as tools or weapons but they wait for us. We must seek them with the Lamp of Truth and put them into words.

But you and I speak languages in this Republic. You speak the language of Power, of pen, purse, and gavel. I speak American grassroots, the language of Liberty, through Providence, Property, and Civic Virtue.

We seldom speak together about The Rule of Law unless it is ignored or violated; now is such a time. I have a story that bridges the distance between my State of California and this Capital.  What I say here must be said here.

Wouldn’t this be a violation of the Scout Oath and Law? “Morally Straight”?

New Boy Scout OathTo set the stage, the Boy Scout Oath:

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

And the Boy Scout Law:     A Scout is:  Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

So how does the following square with the above? Especially when it is a Scout Leader deciding that the rules do not apply to him? From Big Government (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Despite a directive from a leader of the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), prohibiting scouts from advocating political or social positions, some scouts and adult supporters of Scouts for Equality wore their uniforms Sunday as they marched in Utah’s gay pride parade. The Utah Pride Parade in Salt Lake City came just a little more than a week after national delegates of the BSA approved allowing gay youth to become scouts. NBC News reports that Kenji Mikesell, an 18 year-old Eagle Scout and high school senior still active with his troop, said of his decision to wear his uniform in the parade, “It just feels like the right thing to do.

Sigh.  This is not a rant against the Boy Scouts nor against “gay pride”.  It IS about the further co-opting of traditional groups and their values by an increasing militant pop culture that cannot allow such things to continue to exist.  Of course, the latter has no problem being draped in those values – especially as they know that they are actually hollowing them from the inside – out.
