“I didn’t expect Donald Trump to win. I think most of my colleagues didn’t. So we didn’t expect to be in this situation.”

That was US Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) a couple of weeks ago at a town hall committing a gaffe – inadvertently admitting to a truth that none in the GOP elite (and make no mistake, Congress is an elite place) wanted to say concerning repealing Obamacare.  I could be kind as leave it as the dog caught the car.  No, that’s too good for them; they just exposed themselves as to who they really are – no better than the old scraggly bewhiskered guy at the bus station in an old stained trenchcoat with a leer on his face.  Yup, the old “you can trust us – we’re not like the others” schtick has lost its appeal and dignity.  They conned us all – Please, may we have the House?  Please, the Senate would make all things better?  We’re just DYING to have the Oval Office – and THEN think of what we can do for you!

Well, at least Trump kept his promise when he ante’d up Gorsuch and at this point, Gorsuch is filling the role.  And take away the bluster, the illogical verbiage, the Tweets, and a few missteps here and there and ONLY concentrate on his achieved results (that is, what a President can do on his own), Trump is delivering (and no, I’m not agreeing on everything but for the stuff *I’M* counting on), he’s delivered quite a bit of good conservative policy.

Dogwalker Hospitalised After Attack By Somalian Migrant Who Said ‘Dogs are Unclean’

A middle aged woman had to be hospitalised in Vienna following a brutal beating in broad daylight by a veiled Somali asylum seeker offended by her pet dogs. The victim, named only as Ingrid T., described how she was talking with neighbours at the gate of her garden, accompanied by dogs — her deaf, almost-blind, three-legged Collie mix “sitting peacefully” alongside while 10-month-old ‘Poco’ meandered along an alleyway towards her parents’ house  — when she “saw a pretty, veiled woman approaching slowly. “I knew some people from these countries do not like dogs, so I went to Poco and wanted to pull him back,” the 54-year-old told Krone from her hospital bed in the Austrian capital.

The 18-year-old Somali asserted, “The animals are unclean,” Ingrid recalled, stating that her attacker then “grabbed me, spun me around and scratched me” until both women fell to the floor. It took the efforts of three men to manage to pull the asylum seeker away from the Austrian dog owner, who told Krone the assault left her unable to feel her legs.

That would be a piece in Pravda on the Merrimac by Rep. Mary Jane Wallner and Sen. Dan Feltes – both Progressive Democrats – which basically tells the rest of us that we do NOT have any rights to our wealth as long as they have better things to spend it on (especially when the theme is about “it’s for the children!!!” so SHUT UP).  And it comes “right in your FACE” in the third paragraph where they make it absolutely clear that they have first claim on your money (emphasis mine):

Or in similar ways, the problem with the healthcare marketplace being taken over by Government? You know, I’d love to call it “fake news” but it isn’t – this is plain getting it wrong at a news company that has $1.2 Billion in revenues and over 4,000 employees. Good things coming from our neighbors to our East in Maine – workers actually lobbying for a LOWER minimum wage because it is in their own self-interest (go read it as I’m not going to comment on it other than this line which I’ve blogged about in other areas where Governments that have sent the minimum wage arbitrarily sky high: ” first, that it would force employers to raise prices on their menu items, which could affect their current tips; and second, and perhaps more importantly, that employers might be forced to cut servers’ shifts as a result.”).

The second? What happens when there is only the native population left? What happens to that horrible saw that goes “[Illegal] immigrants doing the jobs that Americans won’t do?”

I used to write a lot about the “Mainline Protestant denominations” and how they were crumbling even as they denied that their foundational and Biblical doctrinal changes were the reason why. I just came across a post that updated the sorry state of the Episcopal Church – and the leadership still hasn’t learned the lesson as they win battle after battle against their local churches and refuse to see they are losing that war. They moved from being Biblically oriented to driven by all of the SJW tenets of the day: open borders, gay marriage, less about God and more about the world, to the point of rejecting why they were “in business” (which was saving souls through Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross).

If you no longer believe that Jesus is the Son of God, well, you’re just a country club with ornate windows and an expensive old-fashioned organ but without the greens, tennis courts, and pool.

Fools.  There are just too many people in Government that believe, simply by dint of receiving a government paycheck, that they know better than everybody else on what they should buy and when.  Like the Cash for Clunkers that didn’t meet its goal of Keynesian “stimulating” the auto industry by paying people up to $4,500 to turn in their old cars (to be crushed) for new ones.

And what did it really accomplish? Other than moving SOME people to make a buying decision earlier (note – who were already predisposed to buying a car ANYWAYS) and cost taxpayers about $24,00/car for the cost of the program, I’ve come to only one conclusion as to what it really did.

I don’t agree with him all the time but on this, I do.  The GOP made a singular promise, over and over, for seven years.  Now, like the dog that finally caught the car, they don’t seem to know how to govern.  Which is to say, keep that promise, to completely repeal and replace Obamacare, that they made to us and we gave them the House, the Senate, and the Presidency.  Here’s what he had to say (H/T: Breitbart, reformatted and emphasis mine):

I miss the old days, when Republicans stood for repealing Obamacare. Republicans across the country and every member of my caucus campaigned on repeal – often declaring they would tear out Obamacare “root and branch!”
What happened?  Now too many Republicans are falling all over themselves to stuff hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ dollars into a bill that doesn’t repeal Obamacare and feeds Big Insurance a huge bailout.

Obamacare regulations? Still here. Taxes? Many still in place, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars.

Insurance company bailouts? Those, too. Remember when Republicans complained about Obamacare’s risk corridors? Remember when we called the corridors nothing more than insurance company bailouts? I remember when one prominent GOP candidate during a presidential debate explicitly called out the Obamacare risk corridors as a bailout to insurance companies. Does anyone else?

Seriously – We have to ask babies PERMISSION to pick them up – and then let THEM pick their “gender”???  And then they wonder why college kids are just jerks now, just WAIT to these bunch of adults-to-be grow up.  Admittedly, my primary child-rearing days are 30 years in the rear-view mirror but given that TMEW and I are raising our grandson, I’ve been looking at these kinds of posts with absolute horror – really, who really is in charge here, the babies or the parents (yeah, take one guess – right: no one).  If this is an indication of what’s going to happen in the future, God help us all.
