I’m a software guy with a penchant for football, hockey, music, current events and politics -- mostly current events and politics. Having driven several conversations to silence while discussing the latter items, it has been intimated that I should blog about it; to purge it from my system so that we may return to enjoying social events and cocktail parties. Kind of like drawing venom from a snakebite so that the body may return to health. The body, in this clumsy metaphor, is the social life of my wife:0) So, game on! I’ve got opinions and I hope to persuade and look forward, in return, to be persuaded.

Adhocracy, Why the Progressives are against Free Speech

Remember when the Democrats unanimously voted to repeal the First Amendment back in 2014? Remember when Hillary wanted to curtail free speech when it pertains to politicians? And how about all those times over the past several years when Progressives and leftists called for silencing “hate speech” where hate speech is anything they don’t like? …

Stupid Time to be Alive Reminder 2,458,634

Holy cow. I was perusing my Twitter feed when I found the image below along with a lefty saying “This is so important and spot on…”. So I started looking at it and… We’re doomed. What the heck does some of the items mean? And how exactly are these things tied to white supremacy?

Fine Take the Statues Down, But Do It for the Right Reason

Something about this whole thing with toppling statues is bothering me. Actually, many things. First, let it be known that I hold no quarter for any Confederate soldier, militia member, officer or general. They took the wrong side, fought for something dishonorable, and were deeply misguided. And they lost. That’s it. With that said, I …

Unity Shmunity

In one of my favorite podcasts “Mad Dogs and Englishmen”, Kevin D. Williamson said something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time but could never quite get out very well. So, of course, Kevin being Kevin, voiced it in a much more succinct and intelligent way than anything I would have come up …

WaPo Apologetics ‘Anarchist Weekend Warrior’ Edition

You’ve heard the characterization of those serving in the National Guard as weekend warriors or Harley Riders as weekend warriors.  Now, the Washington Post gives you: Anarchists as weekend warriors! I’m not kidding. I’ll start with a tweet by satirist @iowahawkblog: Punchline: if actually anarchy broke out, they wouldn't survive 30 minuteshttps://t.co/pvo0MGp4k7 — David Burge …

Media Noise Ignored

Sleep was just another opportunity to feel like a Bolshevik. But that is what they want, the believers, the steely ones, that is what they live for: the politicization of sleep. They want politics to be going on everywhere all the time, politics permanent and circumambient. They want the ubiquitization of politics; they want the …

Where Socialism Leads– a Reminder from O’Brien to Sanders

“These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina, where incomes are actually more equal today than they are in the land of Horatio Alger.” — Bernie Sanders (American dupe) August 5, 2011 Today:
