Adhocracy, Why the Progressives are against Free Speech

Remember when the Democrats unanimously voted to repeal the First Amendment back in 2014? Remember when Hillary wanted to curtail free speech when it pertains to politicians? And how about all those times over the past several years when Progressives and leftists called for silencing “hate speech” where hate speech is anything they don’t like? Remember all of those? You should at least remember the one because the latest example was just last week in Boston.

I’m pretty much a free speech absolutist, so it’s always lost on me why people would call for limiting speech when someday someone would try to limit their speech and mine. It seems to me so naive and short sighted in that you never know who would be the one in control silencing others. More amazing is that a lot of these calls coming from Progressives and leftists are getting louder now. With Trump sitting in the White House and Sessions as Attorney General!

Now, I simultaneously held that view AND completely understood the evils the Administrative State F.A. Hayek warned about in Constitution of Liberty. So when I heard Kevin D. Williamson marry the two together, I had a forehead smacking ”Oh yeah, Duh!” moment. Once again a little transcript from Mad Dogs and Englishmen Podcast, where Kevin discusses the reasons Progressives want speech police, check it out:

Holy cow. I was perusing my Twitter feed when I found the image below along with a lefty saying “This is so important and spot on…”. So I started looking at it and…

What the heck does some of the items mean? And how exactly are these things tied to white supremacy?

A Conservative Walks through Free Speech Protesters

And made us proud… A well-mannered, humble conservative gets the welcoming you’d expect as he walks through a crowd  protesting Free Speech yesterday in Boston. And he showed nothing but grace, dignity, and maturity. https://twitter.com/Corrynmb/status/898957917201678336 Bravo, young man. Bravo!

Fine Take the Statues Down, But Do It for the Right Reason

Something about this whole thing with toppling statues is bothering me. Actually, many things.Confederate Statue Durham North Carolina

First, let it be known that I hold no quarter for any Confederate soldier, militia member, officer or general. They took the wrong side, fought for something dishonorable, and were deeply misguided. And they lost. That’s it. With that said, I do believe that there are some good people who disagree with me on this. And that’s fine.

But I got to say, bending to the will of an angry mob in appeasement, even if it is against white nationalism or racism or whatever, is just, well, stupid and counter productive, but before we get to that, should we remove Confederate statues from public spaces?

Unity Shmunity

In one of my favorite podcasts “Mad Dogs and Englishmen”, Kevin D. Williamson said something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time but could never quite get out very well. WaPo Apologetics ‘Anarchist Weekend Warrior’ Edition

You’ve heard the characterization of those serving in the National Guard as weekend warriors or Harley Riders as weekend warriors.  Now, the Washington Post gives you: Anarchists as weekend warriors!

I’m not kidding. I’ll start with a tweet by satirist @iowahawkblog:

I just read the Wapo article. The funny thing is the tone of the peace is so tender and gentle, as if they were stroking a cute wittle kitten. Even though they’re talking about, you know rioting, setting stuff on fire, brawls. But it’s all in the name of anti-Trump that it’s, like, cool.

But outside their 9-to-5 jobs, they call themselves anarchists — bucking the system, shunning the government and sometimes even rioting and smashing windows to make a point.

Media Noise Ignored

297599537-image-noise-malfunction-television-set-mouth-human

Sleep was just another opportunity to feel like a Bolshevik. But that is what they want, the believers, the steely ones, that is what they live for: the politicization of sleep. They want politics to be going on everywhere all the time, politics permanent and circumambient. They want the ubiquitization of politics; they want the politicization of sleep. — Amis, Martin,  Koba the Dread: Laughter and the Twenty Million

“They want politics to be going on everywhere all the time”, what does that remind you of? Safe spaces? Trigger words? Firing an employee for views not held by a company? Shouting down and silencing people whose view are not your own? Thought crimes?

This totally stinks of today. Where we’re demanded to accept that she is a he and he is a she and the use of the general neutral singular pronoun “he/his” is a slight. Where people wear black, assault people with views different from their own, damage and set ablaze other people’s property and then call themselves… anti-fascists? 2+2=5.

Remember Victims of Communism Day, May Day 2017

Today is May Day or what should be Remember the Victims of Communism Day.

From The Washington Post:

May Day began as a holiday for socialists and labor union activists, not just communists. But over time, the date was taken over by the Soviet Union and other communist regimes and used as a propaganda tool to prop up their [authority]. I suggest that we instead use it as a day to commemorate those regimes’ millions of victims. The authoritative Black Book of Communism estimates the total at 80 to 100 million dead, greater than that caused by all other twentieth century tyrannies combined. We appropriately have a Holocaust Memorial Day. It is equally appropriate to commemorate the victims of the twentieth century’s other great totalitarian tyranny. And May Day is the most fitting day to do so….

The number above according to Death by Government is a little low. That statistical reference puts the number at 106 million with Stalin and Mao leading the list of contributors that also include Lenin, Pol Pot, and Tito–Communists all. You can hear people defending Communism today–which is an alarming display of ignorance.  They say stuff like, “Hey, man, how about the 8 hour work day, dude?” knowing not a whit about forced starvation, forced organ harvesting, liquidating the Kulaks, or the 106 million other crimes. It’s a shame.

But I’m here to help. Today, I found

Raising Prices and Lefty Intellectual Inconsistency

Ran across this on the interweb today and thought it a pithy summary of a lefty characteristic. The only problem I have with it is that it’s not just inconsistency, it’s also dishonesty.  They are dishonest. Spoiled Pro-Socialist Liberals and Terrorized Venezuelans

Watch spoiled, cosseted American liberals praise the joys of socialisms in the safe environs of the United States cities.  Continue to watch the people of Venezuela’s view of socialism and what it has wrought on their country from the hellish, brutish barrios.  Oh, and keep in mind that Venezuela adopted the so-called “Democratic Socialism”– the Bernie Sanders flavor of that wretched ideology (as if there’s really any difference).

Compare one exchange with Spoiled American liberal woman:

Costs of Health Care, College Tuition vs. Cell Phones, Televisions

As the GOP-ers are bandying on about the new health care plan which looks remarkably like the old health care plan which was decried by the same people pushing the new health care plan, I thought I’d toss this out for some to chew on.

Below is a nice instructive graphic from a few years ago illustrating the cost to Americans on various sectors over a period of time, 2005-2014, I believe.  (I saw it on Twitter, but chased down a nice analysis  here.)  Some sectors, in green, have costs shooting off the top of the graphic like the one for safe-space, tolerance free-zones where you can get credentialed in group think snowflake studies or be booted off  campus.  Other sectors, in red, have some prices plummeting like Hillary’s chances on election night after Pennsylvania blushed red.  Guess what one of the main the differences is between the green items and the red items.  (Hint: one contains something that rhymes with bubsidized).

Costs-For-AmericansCropped

As Cato’s Daniel Mitchell points out, the chart is  “an excellent opportunity to show that sectors of our economy that are subsidized (mostly by third-party payer) are the ones plagued by rising prices.”

Lefty Fake News Reporter Arrested for Phoning in Bomb Threats to Jewish Community Centers

Who’s surprised?  Not me. This is what the left does.  Ironically, this came after “The Intercept, a left-wing publication that headlined just two days ago, ‘Trump Can’t Accept That His Allies Are Targeting Jews – So He Blames His Opponents.'”, reports the Daily Wire. And the Leftist scumbag, Juan Thompson, who allegedly made the bomb threats used to work for… yes you guessed it, The Intercept!  I’m not kidding.

From the Daily Wire:

Here’s what we know about Thompson: he’s a left-wing reporter who made up material while working at The Intercept. He was fired in February 2016 for fabricating quotes in his stories and creating “fake email accounts that he used to impersonate people,” one of which was a Gmail account in the name of the editor-in-chief of that publication. He says he “voted for Bernie Sanders.” Thompson, who is black, tweeted just weeks ago that Trump was attempting to “remove black ppl from the southside of Chicago.”

Bernie voter. Figures.

The same article talks about Juan being
