Happens every time when the Right allows the Left to shape and define the battlefield. From the Union Leader (emphasis mine, reformatted):

“If Chris had his way in the vote he cast multiple times, 50,000 people would not have their health care,” Van Ostern said. He admitted the next state budget would likely require more dollars from state taxpayers to keep that coverage, saying it can come from existing revenues. “I think that will be some part of the equation,” Van Ostern said.

Sununu countered that the state should not make permanent the coverage. “I have never proposed cutting 50,000 people off the Medicaid rolls,” Sununu said. He favors a “New Hampshire solution” that should not require any more money from taxpayers. “Once you make that permanent, you have lost all your leverage, all your leverage with the federal government to designing a New Hampshire solution,” Sununu said. The state shouldn’t brag that the Medicaid rolls have increased by nearly 80 percent, he added. “That is not a good metric; that we have increased the numbers that require government assistance,” Sununu said.

A snippet from a podcast between Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) and Russ Roberts as transcribed by Ed Driscoll.  The topic was on another writer saying we should give up on following the Constitution (emphasis mine):

REYNOLDS: Here’s the problem with public officials — because that’s really [Seidman’s] audience — deciding to ignore the Constitution: If you’re the president, if you’re a member of Congress, if you are a TSA agent, the only reason why somebody should listen to what you say, instead of horsewhipping you out of town for your impertinence, is because you exercise power via the Constitution. If the Constitution doesn’t count, you don’t have any legitimate power. You’re a thief, a brigand, an officious busybody, somebody who should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail for trying to exercise power you don’t possess.

So if we’re going to start ignoring the Constitution, I’m fine with that. The first part I’m going to start ignoring is the part that says, I have to do whatever they say.

ROBERTS: But his argument is that we already ignore the Constitution; it’s not really much of a binding document.

REYNOLDS: Oh, well, then I’m free to do whatever I want!  And actually, that is a damning admission, because what that really says is: If you believe Seidman’s argument; if you believe that we already ignore the Constitution anyway, then in fact, the government rules by sheer naked force, and nothing else. And if that’s what you believe, then all of this talk of revolution suddenly doesn’t seem so crazy, it seems almost mandatory.

First the NCAA and now the ACC have decided to strip North Carolina of any championships, especially football (as that is the time of year) because its state’s legislature decided that your chromosomes determine which bathroom you should go to with the passage of HB2. I am glad to see that Gov McCrory has stayed firm to principles and has not (yet?) caved in on this like former Indiana Gov. (and current running mate of Donald Trump) did on its religious / conscience protection law.

But one person that remains on message is Reverend Franklin Graham, the son of famed evangelist Billy Graham.  He wrote a letter to the head of the ACC and the schools that are in that athletic conference calling them out on their absolute hypocrisy on calling out North Carolina but refusing to do the same of their big dollar sponsors.  Gosh, it’s almost like the ACC is no better than any ordinary corrupt politician (does Hillary Clinton come to mind)? Emphasis mine:

Political correctness grew out of the Marxism of the first half of the 20th century, particularly via the “critical theory” obsessions of the Weimar-era socialist Frankfurt School. Similarly, with their purges, speech codes, and purity tests, college campuses in the 21st century are essentially a recreation of the internal terror wars of the Soviet Union under Stalin, without the left-on-left body count. Hmmm, ya think maybe they just bring this upon themselves?  I’ve been putting up the Gallup graphs for a long time so I’m not surprised:

But CNN, like many Lefty media outlets, just can’t seem to understand that when you decide to call out and slime half your audience, to belittle them and denigrate them, there is generally going to be a reaction due to that decision.  The resulting “unexpected!” consequence just seem to escape them.
