A promise kept – and Joseph Plaia and Zandra Rice-Hawkins go on lying about SB12 – Part 2b

Well, we all know that politicians crave publicity they THINK is positive.  Certainly, Joseph Plaia is now getting his 15 seconds of fame, although not necessarily the kind he wanted.  This Democrat now has his quote going national with The Truth About Guns quoting the Washington Post: “This bill will eliminate the state’s long-standing permitting … Read more

“Good fences make good neighbors”

border_wallI mentioned this yesterday – a bit more info (reformatted, emphasis mine):

SAN DIEGO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Friday that it plans to start awarding contracts by mid-April for President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico, signaling that he is aggressively pursuing plans to erect “a great wall” along the 2,000-mile border.

The agency said it will request bids on or around March 6 and that companies would have to submit “concept papers” to design and build prototypes by March 10, according to a website for federal contractors. The field of candidates will be narrowed by March 20 and finalists must submit offers with their proposed costs by March 24. The president told the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday that construction will start “very soon” and is “way, way, way ahead of schedule.”

Like him or not, you have to admit that with anything that he can do within the strictures of established Law, he’s keeping his promises and doing it quickly.  So the bids start in about a week – that’s only 6 weeks into his Presidency.

I didn’t know that the E in EPA stood for Entitlement

“The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified.” – President Obama, Inauguration (2009)

EPA BustedYeah, this is still Obama’s EPA with Pruitt installed just this past week. In that they can do what they want with our tax money, as, well, because they are the EPA. Actually, it seems to be Fed wide which is why Trump is not liked (yeah, I know, way understatement) with his promise to take down the Administrative or Deep State.  Especially so with the EPA, given how hard they lobbied Congress NOT to allow Pruitt to become the EPA Administrator and with stories about how they are going to do anything they can to stymie the new Administration’s policies to rein them in.

And with this, these EPA employees have just handed Trump and Pruitt their own hang-nooses (emphasis mine, reformatted):

EPA Employees Used Gov’t Purchase Card to Spend $14,985 on Fitness Memberships
Purchases did not comply with any of the internal controls that were tested

Environmental Protection Agency employees used their government purchase cards to spend $14,985 on fitness memberships, according to an audit by the inspector general of the agency. With the goal of assessing the risk of illegal, improper, and erroneous purchases made on the EPA’s purchase card, the auditors evaluated 18 transactions totaling $48,345 and found that none of them complied with any of the internal controls that were tested.

Notable Quote – Tucker Carlson

“Look, it’s really simple,” Carlson says. “The SAT 50 years ago pulled a lot of smart people out of every little town in America and funneled them into a small number of elite institutions, where they married each other, had kids, and moved to an even smaller number of elite neighborhoods. You know, we can keep this up all day long….good guy with a gun stops a bad guy:

Police: Neighbor intervenes in argument, shoots man about to hit woman with brick

A neighbor with a gun intervened and shot one of two people arguing in the west-central valley Monday night. A man and a woman were arguing on the sidewalk outside a home near West Washington Avenue and North Jones Boulevard before the man began fighting her, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. CJ Jenkins said. The neighbor heard the fight, went outside, saw the man pick up a brick and raise it as if to hit the woman, he said.

The neighbor then took out his handgun and

Former bastion of NH Conservativism, Union Leader, devolving to Progressive speech codes?

“but where and by whom are the parent going to be held responsible and accountable for causing this problem in the first place?”

Union Leader LogoOr is it trying to have it both ways? Conservative paper, Progressive reporter?  Bonus is that an Officer of the Court is lying (MAN, there’s a lot of that going around lately).  Headline for a piece (reformatted, emphasis mine) by Kevin Landrigan:

Trump order has undocumented immigrants in Manchester on edge

MANCHESTER – As President Donald Trump’s administration spells out the terms of its upgraded crackdown against illegal immigrants, those living here who are undocumented say they have become even more careful about contact with the public.

Illegal alien is the legal term of art.  If you were not born here and entered into the country without following our Rule of Law, you are illegally here.  “Undocumented” is the Progressive / Open Border crowd’s way of “softening” and redirecting attention away from the legal guilt of these people.  “Undocumented” implies “oh, it’s ok to be here – it is just a simple paperwork issue.  Bullcrap – it’s propaganda and the editor for this piece knows it.

So what side ARE you on, UL?

And yes, these illegal aliens SHOULD be on edge and they SHOULD be looking over their collective shoulders – if you have not bothered to follow our pathway(s) to come here legally, you should be scared – you know you are here wrongly.  Let’s also look at the BIAS in this article – not ONCE is there mention of the time and cost that legal immigrants (LEGAL) have expended to be here and not one quote from a legal immigrant in the piece.

But of course the lawyers are here to obfuscate and make the pitiful calls for empathy, understanding – and for ignoring the Law:

It must have REALLY hurt the anti-gunners at The Trace do do this chart

Well, the anti-gun harridans of MDA are safely ensconced in their own version of reality.  After all, those guns can threaten people, they can kill people, but they certainly can’t protect people.  And there are no good guys around either (common cause with the feminazis?).  Let’s keep pushing them over the edge, shall we?

After the officer approached 25-year-old Justin Holland, of Moores Hill, Indiana, near a vehicle on the highway, police said that the two began fighting. An unidentified woman at a nearby home came to the scene to help the officer, who was “being overtaken by Holland,” the release said.

The woman fired once from her personally owned gun,

Zandra Rice-Hawkins ('Grok exclusive photo)
Zandra Rice-Hawkins (‘Grok exclusive photo)

And now back to Zandra Rice-Hawkins – Mrs. FUD herself (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt).  Except in the case of SB12, the Constitutional Carry bill that Governor Chris Sununu promised to sign and did, she’s outright lying about what it does and what it says.  Typical for this Socialist that’s funded by outside-the-state-Progressives that want to turn our Live Free or Die State into just another Mass. hellhole of overreaching and overbearing government.  She is constitutionally unable to understand that the most important thing is Freedom for individuals to make their own choices.  Instead, she’s all about how Government needs to put a figurative cage around us and make all of the “important” decisions of our lives for us.  In this case, the Right to be able to defend ourselves should be, as any good Progressive wants, outsourced to others.  And she, in my opinion, to lie about it:

Here’s a couple of tweets from Granite State Progress which she heads:

Really?  “Signed law to allow sex offenders & other dangerous people to legally carry hidden , loaded guns” (BTW, concerning sex offenders, she’s all about

A promise kept – and Joseph Plaia and Zandra Rice-Hawkins go on lying about SB12 – Part 1

Congratulations to Governor Sununu for doing something that a lot of politicians don’t do – a campaign promise kept by signing NH’s new Constitutional Carry law (SB12) that repealed a decades old discriminatory law.  However, sore losers gotta hate – and lie.  It is in their blood and in their souls.  F’rinstance, one would think that a Police Commissioner would be a fine, up-standing, and truth telling Citizen.  After all, aren’t those involved in law enforcement supposed to NOT lie to the General Public?  Apparently, Joseph Plaia thinks otherwise (emphasis mine):

This bill will eliminate the state’s longstanding permitting system and prevent local law enforcement from making important determinations that help keep guns out of dangerous hands,” Joseph Plaia, a Portsmouth Police Commissioner and member of Granite State Coalition for Common Sense, said in a statement. (H/T: Concord Monitor)

“Will” is a strong declarative; Plaia is telling the NH Public that a duly passed and signed law is doing something that it is not true (as Kimberly blogged, he seems to have this kind of habit).  The law is short – even a moron can understand it as the official analysis shows (emphasis mine, full text after the jump):

ANALYSIS

This bill:

I.  Increases the length of time for which a license to carry a pistol or revolver is valid.
II.  Allows a person to carry a loaded, concealed pistol or revolver without a license unless such person is otherwise prohibited by New Hampshire statute.

Microcosm of Nanny State Failure: School LunchAyup – the wonders of Capitalism (the marketplace governed by you) vs the dreariness of a Government directed economy (even if it is just lunch):

Students, Faculty Rejoice as PA School Drops Federally-Regulated School Lunch Program

A Pennsylvania high school is no longer bound by federal food regulations after the district decided to do away with the National School Lunch Program. Penn-Trafford High School had been struggling to comply with federal regulations as cafeteria revenues and student lunch participation took a dive, the Tribune-Review reported. The school’s lunch program is now free from restrictions on calories, fat, sugar, salt, and other elements, but lost federal funding to help cover free and reduced-priced lunches for some students. However, district business manager Brett Lago said the district has still been able to provide free and reduced-price lunches to students eligible for the school lunch program.

“We’ve lost, to date, about $40,000 worth of reimbursement, but our sales are up about $50,000 over last year,” he said. “Participation has gone from about 25 percent to 45 percent, and we’re still providing free lunches to all those students who would have been eligible under the school lunch program.”

US Frackers – better than Foggy Bottom at swaying geopolitical balance of Powers?

oilHeh!  For years, OPEC has been an energy bully as well as funding Middle Eastern spawned Islamism. It seems, however, that their days of exclusively using an oil club to get their way is fading:

Chinese independent, or teapot, refiners are bringing in rare cargoes of North American heavy crude in a new long-distance flow that traders say has only been made possible by OPEC’s output cuts and ample supplies in Canada and the United States.

In April, at least 1 million barrels of the heavy crude Mars, pumped from the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, are expected to land in China’s Shandong province and 1 million barrels of a second unidentified heavy grade will arrive in China, trade and shipping sources said last week. This follows the arrival in January of 600,000 barrels of U.S. Gulf Blend, a heavy crude made up of a blend of various U.S. and Canadian grades loaded onto ships on the U.S. Gulf Coast, according to the sources and shipping data.

Jeffrey Medford, a small-business owner in South Carolina, voted reluctantly for Donald Trump. As a conservative, he felt the need to choose the Republican. But some things are making him feel uncomfortable — parts of Mr. Trump’s travel ban, for example, and the recurring theme of his apparent affinity for Russia.

Mr. Medford should be a natural ally for liberals trying to convince the country that Mr. Trump was a bad choice. But it is not working out that way. Every time Mr. Medford dips into the political debate — either with strangers on Facebook or friends in New York and Los Angeles — he comes away feeling battered by contempt and an attitude of moral superiority.

“We’re backed into a corner,” said Mr. Medford, 46, whose business teaches people to be filmmakers. “There are at least some things about Trump I find to be defensible. But they are saying: ‘Agree with us 100 percent or you are morally bankrupt. You’re an idiot if you support any part of Trump.’ ”

He added: “I didn’t choose a side. They put me on one.”
