House Speaker Shawn Jasper, R-Hudson, narrowly won confirmation as commissioner of agriculture Wednesday, setting up a battle to replace him as the New Hampshire Legislature heads into the 2018 session. The two Democrats on the council, Andru Volinsky of Concord and Chris Pappas of Manchester, helped deliver the appointment to Sununu, a first-term Republican.

How apropo is that headline from the Union Leader! He became Speaker of the NH House by dint of the Democrats “appointing” him after his own Party had essentially rejected him.  Bad things came from that, especially on issues that really mattered to the base.  I still have no clue how the NH GOP House members voted him in again after him pulling a Doug Scammon (a Republican that also used the Democrats to gain power).

And now he has gained a Commissionership courtesy of the Democrats.  That will be his legacy – a Republican who only succeeded by the active involvement by Democrats (and not Republicans).

He took the time to take all of the LSRs (Legislative Service Requests – future bills that are put into the legislative hopper that will be textually fleshed out later with the specifics) that have been turned in, examined who the legislators were that are sponsoring those LSRs, and then ranked those LSRs by the sponsors’ HRA ratings (e.g., how closely do the sponsors vote in accordance to the Republican Platform).

US Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) in an op-ed says that while she didn’t support the Obamacare repeal votes earlier this year, she does support the tax reform bills having a repeal of the Individual Mandate that Government / Obamacare put in place for people who just wished to not purchase healthcare.  Once again, look at the high cost of Government mandated plans that RedDiaperBaby and Jeemo are blaming on Trump and refusing to acknowledge that it is the structure of Obamacare itself that is driving costs soaring (emphasis mine):

Well, I’m back on my hamlet’s Budget Committee and we are now going over the town budget with the school district’s budget right behind it. Arguably, it is the most powerful committee/commission/entity  in what is known as an “SB2 town” where SB2 stands for Senate Bill 2 – the legislation pass a few years back that created the ability for a town to swap out the traditional NH Town hall voting to one that splits the deliberative session and a ballot voting process.

My town also adopted the formal Budget Committee that came with it. The Town Selectmen must present their budget to us. The School Board has to present theirs as well. We deliberate, change it (or not), and then present both budgets to the townsfolk (not the Selectmen or the School Board) for deliberation/voting.

We are the last line of defense for the taxpayers. And an issue showed up two weeks ago on the Town side.

Looking at both gasoline and electric prices for the 48-contiguous states and weighting each the same shows that Louisiana and Oklahoma have the nation’s lowest prices for these two essential energy staples. Louisiana’s combined gasoline and electricity prices were 37 percent below the national average while Oklahoma enjoyed a discount of 33 percent below the national average.

Paying the most for electricity and gasoline were Connecticut and California, at 76 percent and 75 percent above the national average, respectively.

And here in NH?  Behold!  We’re not California or Connecticut but why the heck aren’t we more like Texas (or even Oregon)?

So commenters RedDiaperBaby and Jeemo Glewton didn’t believe my reporting on a couple of acquaintances of mine lamenting on the extremely high cost of their Obamacare plans as this year’s version is soaring in price (“So he works simply to pay his Obamacare bill? A “Have” paying for the “Have-Nots”).  Jeemo outright called me a liar as if I was just making stuff up. Both Progressives belittled both poor souls with arguments that they should go and become employees instead of owning their own businesses or just go “bare” and eat the penalty (right – Progressives showing their true sense of “compassion” for those that must suffer the failings of Progressive policies) or other ways of getting around my main point – the Affordable Care Act is absolutely not affordable if you are not being subsidized by taxpayers.
