Data Points – Car sales

Doge viper

What we heard during the last Presidential election from the Democrats and environmental fascists is that the car industry was not providing and selling the kinds of cars that Americans want to buy.  Thus, right after Obama the election, Obama changed the CAFE standards that will effectively force smaller cars on Americans. Free choice? The economic freedom to decide for oneself what is best? Bah humbug on that!

Why of COURSE Government must set the rules for a simple car!  They just don’t believe that ordinary Americans will (or can) make "the correct" purchasing decisions.  So are Americans knuckling under to the the "sacrifice everything to GAIA" crowd’s beliefs?

Well, see the Viper above?  Nothing but a fire breathing (and carbon spewing) gas guzzling 4 rubber legged machine for the gearheads everywhere.  Yup, Chrysler is thinking of bringing it back.  Electric cars sales, even if propped up by huge Govt subsidies, are failing.

And the latest sales figures:

Auto sales are roaring back — and so is America’s hunger for trucks.

In an embarrassing trend for President Obama and his media chorus, the rebound of the U.S. car market in November is coupled with a rebound in truck sales, even as Washington elites are trying to mandate smaller cars and persuade the American public that “Americans want small cars.”

The evidence indicates exactly the opposite.

The Stats?

  • Trucks now make up 53.5 percent of the market
  • Light-truck market share is up 6 percent over 2009 year-end totals
  • Hybrid cars have declined from 2.8 to 2.4 percent of the market

Yup, Americans are sho’ buyin’ them thar small cars, eh Mr. President? In fact, I’m betting that one of Obama’s car companies, Government Motors, latest small car – green offerings, the Chevy Volt, will be a worse flop than the Ford Edsel).
