U.S. Senate August Recess Cancelled – Democrat Obstruction Blamed

Dem Obstruction in Senate

The party of progress just got their summer vacation canceled due to their all-out effort to prevent progress.

Senators will receive “a state work period” the first full week of August, but must come back to D.C. after that.

This is bad news for the incumbent Democrat senators since they will not have the ability to campaign during the month. Democrats have 26 seats up for re-election in November along with independent seats in Maine and Vermont, both belonging to senators who caucus with the Democrats.

Here’s McConnell’s tweeted official statement.

McConnell On Aug Recess

Short of changing the rules, I doubt much will change. Though they may get a few things done if some Democrat Senators don’t report for duty. Given the number of seats that the Democrat-Socialists have to defend I’d expect a few to “call out sick.”

Whatever happens, it does make for entertaining political theatre.
