SMITH: The 4 Percent “Solution”

I could easily build a case against General Bolduc’s character by ranting about everything he’s done wrong since winning his 2022 primary, but for now, let’s talk about his new endorsement of the PappASS.  Bolduc played the VETERAN card, even though his argument is lame.  When Scott Brown (a fellow veteran endorsed by Bolduc) lost his primary, the right move for a public figure, veteran, and influencer was to endorse his fellow veteran, Edmond Laplante, who EARNED his ballot access the hard way.

When I say “earned” and “hard way,” I mean joining the November race without being SELECTED (starting with S) as the darling favorite in a primary, the benefit of an elite political resume, a family name, or pre-primary endorsements from the Uniparty cabal, including AFP and TPUSA.

Team Red and Team Blue’s candidates made it to November because they were bought and paid for by funding that doesn’t represent the best interests of We the People.  They circumvented many requirements of traditional campaigning.  A few that come to mind include accepting invitations to debates and other appearances that are not protected from the hoi polloi by event formats or insulated by layers of staff that interfere with voters’ ability to ask candid questions and receive plausible answers in public.

In previous articles, I made the case for Edmond Laplante, and General Bolduc has just created a window to revisit and strengthen my pro-Laplante arguments.  Beyond the reasons Laplante is better US Senate material than the red-and-blue establishment picks, there’s the future of NH’s state elections.  I previously mentioned ballot access requirements for the full ballot, but I want to remind everyone dissatisfied with their Republican STATE senator (or presumptive future state senator, if in District 8) that voting for Laplante is an investment in the 2028 election.

We already know that we are going to get either a blue swamp rat or a Uniparty Klaus Schwab stooge misrepresenting NH in that open seat.  Why not make your vote matter instead?  If Laplante gets 4% of the vote, Constitution Party candidates for ALL offices, all the way down to dog catcher, can file candidacy in 2028 without that nearly insurmountable petition-signature hurdle.  Read that again because almost every Republican STATE senator needs to be primaried, and this is the way to flush them out without gambling precious resources on possible repeats of the 2024 Gannon-Phillips train wreck.

Removing that 750-signature requirement also opens the executive council races to more quality candidates.  Tired of Janet Stevens voting for Gordon-Darby, COVID money, or dirty judges?  Voting for Edmond Laplante paves the way for a 2028 Constitution Party candidate to challenge her in November without the pre-primary nuisance of the apparatus that controls 10 Water Street.  Think Kenney needs to be put out to pasture?  The same solution applies.

I would be remiss not to include the ongoing responsibility in the message.  To maintain ballot access for the Constitution Party (or any other party that achieves status as a recognized major party), a statewide candidate (for governor or US Senator) must get 4% of the votes in each election.  Instead of choosing the lesser of two evils in this U.S. Senate election, invest your vote in Edmond Laplante and enjoy the trickle-down benefits on your 2028 ballot if he gets that 4%.
