Last year, one of the big stories out of Messachusetts, was the Cambridge Brothel Ring.
A Cambridge magistrate criminally charged 12 of the 28 alleged customers of a high-end brothel network that operated in parts of Cambridge and Washington D.C. suburbs at a Friday morning hearing.
Nearly 18 months after federal prosecutors first arrested three of the brothel network’s ringleaders, 12 of the 28 alleged clients were summoned to appear at the Cambridge District Court for Friday’s probable cause hearings. Cambridge police, arguing in front of a clerk-magistrate instead of a judge, made a case for charging them with paying for sex.
High-end sex work.
Here in New Hampshire, we’ve got what you would call low-end sex work. Asian girls, exploited by Asian human trafficking rings, but “sold” out of “spas,” which is a 21st-century name for happy-ending massage parlors. If you missed the story, over the summer NH bragged about leaving 60% of them open – my spin, because they were excited about shutting down 40% of them.
Low-end sex work.
I’m not advocating for any of that, but our friends on the left, and in Massachusetts there are more of them than you can shake a climate hockey stick at, make a habit of praising sex workers, their rights, and the rest of it. As if the oldest profession is actually the issue and Democrats actually care about it.
The problem is human trafficking, more recently of Asian girls who are tricked into coming to the US by Asian gangs or crime organizations, and it’s a decades-old (if not centuries-old) problem. Human sex trafficking. Like slavery, it’s a global enterprise that continues to this day. And while it’s more openly prevalent outside America, women and children, mostly, are trafficked for sex or labor or both.
We got a whole bunch more of it when Joe and Kammy opened the border, and less since Trump closed it. But we still have it, and when cities like Burlington, Vermont, prohibit arrest and prosecution of “sex work,’ you get more of it.
Low end or high end, there is a disconnect between our proglodyte friends and reality.
In the Cambridge case, Asian girls (by which I mean their pimps) were charging $350-500 for the girlfriend experience, which, if you were to peruse the left’s pro-sex work glossy trifold, is the thing they’ve been claiming someone needs to protect. The problem is that while the Dems say they mean it as a workers’ rights issue, at the end of the day it’s more along the lines of their approach to minor-attracted persons. A progressive kink for which they don’t want to be arrested or imprisoned.
No matter how well-meaning the idea, the worst impulses in human nature run wild at the expense of the people whom they claim they meant to help, but anyone who points out how badly they did with it is labeled as anti-whatever it is.
They create more crime or more sex trafficking, and you’re the backward prude for pointing it out and wanting to help women, children, victims, whatever.
The Cambridge Brothel story should have been, given the nature of the state of Massachusetts and its deep blue stain, the real-world success story of an Asian Joel Goodson and his Madam/mistress Lana (from the movie Risky Business) connecting her friends with his to make everyone a little bit of money.
Free markets. Commerce. Stress relief.
But that’s not how they sold the Cambrodge Brothel, and doesn’t that contradict their own narratives and agenda? If that isn’t the sex work they’re talking about, what is?
Well, that’d be the one where the girls’ transactions are taxable, and they are represented by a union operating as a “separate” non-profit, whose bosses collect dues from its members and then funnel “donations” into Democrat campaign coffers to protect their shared “business” interests.
In other words, if the Democratic Party isn’t getting a cut of whatever it is, it might be illegal, immoral, untoward, or even unpatriotic. It’s sort of what they mean when they say, “you didn’t build that.” What they mean is you can’t keep it unless we get a piece of it, and that piece has a habit of getting bigger and bigger based on the needs of your government keepers.
Another word for that is protection money, which is more or less a feature of every crime family, and that’s about as accurate a definition of the Democratic Party that I’ve ever heard. The government is their gun; you pay up or else.
