And not just because that’s the only thing they are good at.
I’ve been sitting on this story for weeks now. It was going to be a GrokTALK!, then a Morning Update, and then I wasn’t sure if either or neither. It’s a great topic, so please make time to check out both links, but the crux of it is this.
The rise of the Democratic Socialists of America has made it clear that socialism endures, even after a century of catastrophic failure. There has never been a successful socialist country, but American socialists have won many of their biggest victories yet this year, most recently in Michigan.
How can something so flawed and historically dangerous continue to attract so much appeal?
More than a third of the country thinks around the many failures, all of them with some of the worst possible outcomes for everyone but the ruling class. 68% of Democrats and a larger percentage of college kids feel comfortable supporting it. The number of white tower liberals is likely in the 80s or 90th percentile.
I think that is why we have the saying, “It’s so stupid only an intellectual could believe it.”
For utopianism, the German Marxist Ernst Bloch is informative. In his monumental book Main Currents of Marxism: Its Origins, Growth and Dissolution, the historian Leszek Kolakowski devotes an entire chapter to Bloch. Bloch states that “man is the root of all things.” That is to say, man is the master of reality itself. He can mold it as he sees fit, regardless of what the “facts” might indicate. …
Thus, the facts of failure do not matter because, as Kolakowski explains, “‘facts’ have no ontological meaning [to the Marxists] and may be ignored without hesitation: what matters are the premonitions of the anticipating fancy.” Simply put, the socialist puts feelings over facts. If there is sufficient belief, it can be so.
This also explains why they have so much trouble defining what a woman is. It is, in fact, a litmus test for the sort of mind that would support or advance socialist candidates and communist government.
This kind of thinking is only possible thanks to the relativism of the socialists, best expressed by the French Marxist Jean-Paul Sartre. Sartre proclaimed that “existence precedes essence.” This is a denial of there being an objective human nature (or “essence”). Human “nature” is merely whatever we humans in existence choose to make it.
This also explains the violence we expect from the left.
Once you make something your paradigm, in a mental space where what you feel is truth, an increasingly violent reaction is the most likely outcome.
Men who say they are women are just women.
It is a political system that destroys democracy and creates a ruling-class oligarchy they claim to abhor, every single time it’s tried. But when they do it, it will be the utopia they say because they feel it.
But the truth of the vision is a lie.
If man is the master of both reality and his own nature, then everything is subject to the collective conscience. If enough people believe and try hard enough, the socialist paradise can be achieved. Past failures merely indicate a lack of one or both.
These thinkers may show the problem of the Left. It is rooted in an optimistic crusade to remake man. This is, of course, impossible, because man does have an objective nature. He is not a blank slate.
In places like New York and California, they have voted themselves into a 50%+1 situation that proves why socialism will always fail. It is why communist nations have police states and build walls and control their borders zealously in both directions.
That’s right, AWFLs: if you get your way, the borders will be more closed than even you can imagine because if you don’t do that, people will flee as fast as they can. Americans are leaving New York, California, and other pre-socialism laboratories because human beings don’t like having what they worked for taken from them, especially by people who typically never worked a real job in their lives.
The socialist surge is led by idiot rich kids who feel guilty about their station and think Socialism will make them feel better. Maybe, after saddling the rest of us with it and fleeing the monster they created. A monster the Democrat Party encouraged and embraced because it has the same goals.
We’re running out of safe spaces for liberty. Do us all a favor and don’t vote for a Democrat no matter what lies they tell you. It’s all the same endgame to them.
