Healthy Families Community Potluck Invites Cheshire County Residents to Celebrate Affordable, Accessible Healthy Living

Keene, NH – Turning Point Action and the Healthy Americans Coalition invite families across Cheshire County and the greater Monadnock Region to a free, family-friendly Healthy Families Community Potluck on Friday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Wheelock Park, Park Avenue, Keene, NH 03431.

Bring your favorite healthy dish and join neighbors for an evening of good food, connection, and encouragement. The event celebrates a simple truth: healthy eating is not a luxury reserved for the wealthy or the highly skilled. It is possible for everyone—right now—no matter income, time, ability, or living situation.

Why it matters

The food we choose fuels our energy, strengthens our bodies, protects our minds, and builds resilience for the years ahead. Yet many people believe healthy eating requires expensive ingredients, complicated recipes, a big backyard garden, or hours in the kitchen. That myth ends here.
There are countless easy, affordable ways to eat well today:

Grow a few potted herbs or vegetables on a windowsill, balcony, or kitchen counter—no farm required.
Have fresh, healthy produce delivered straight to your house or apartment.

Order pre-prepared organic meals that arrive at your door ready to enjoy.
Simply choose whole foods and skip the preservatives, added sugars, artificial colors, and unnecessary additives.

Cut back on takeout and fast food in favor of simple, nourishing options you control.

Being able-bodied can make traditional gardening easier, but it should never limit your vision. An accessible garden can look however it needs to for you—raised beds, container plants, vertical gardens, or even just a sunny windowsill. The goal is progress that fits your life.

Everyday foods like eggs, butter, beans, oats, fresh vegetables, yogurt, and whole grains already deliver real nutrition without draining the budget or demanding advanced skills. A pot of bean chili, a tray of roasted vegetables, or a bowl of fruit with yogurt can be both delicious and powerful.

“Strong communities begin with strong families, and strong families start with the choices we make at the table,” organizers shared. “This potluck is about showing that healthy living is joyful, practical, and open to all.”
