MACDONALD: Maybe We All Look the Same To Them

When you put people and equipment in action, even the best planning doesn’t protect everyone from accidents or tragedy. There are a lot of both milling about in the Middle East with kinetic intent, so failure is an exponentially likely option. Last week, a KC-135 tanker went down. Multiple reports claimed all sorts of things, which is the way of the internet, but one of them came from Iran.

In the early hours of Saturday morning Iran time, Press TV — Iran’s state-run international news network — posted what it said were “images of the six US crew members of the refueling aircraft that was downed by resistance forces in western Iraq on Thursday.”

The Iranians provided photographic evidence, including a picture of Bowe Bergdahl. Obama traded five Taliban fighters for him (the dude who pleaded guilty to desertion and misbehavior but has since had his conviction overturned). He’s not in the military. The Taliban held him captive, not Iran. So, for Iran to find and use his pic to try and prove that they had captured a crew that the military claims are deceased, is a sure sign of desperation.

Talk about a Baghdad Bob moment.

I guess we all look alike to them.

If you are not Muslim, you are garbage. Peh!

And it’s obviously not just Bowe who is not even in any American service.

None of these individuals appear to be the service members killed in the crash, although we don’t know their identities as of Friday night. It’s safe to assume that Bergdahl wasn’t involved in any way, though.

And the craft was not shot down by friendly or enemy fire, at least that’s the story. A tragedy, Iran has turned into a tragic comedy in its desperate effort to create the impression that it is still effective. And to its credit, it is, if tossing missiles at civilian targets in countries that are not attacking them counts.
