Over the years I’ve commented on how eerily linked DC and Concord political legislation, actions, and events seem to be. What happens in DC then gets transported to here in Concord. Elections, similar. Legislation (especially from the Left), similar. And then Grokster Mike told us during GrokTALK! this past Saturday of this just simply obnoxious news that what happened here in Concord with Democrat appointed Speaker of the House Jasper, we see Democrats in the US House willing to prop up Speaker Boehner in light that the Republicans’ Hastert Rule is now demolished:
Has this ever happened before in the history of the House of Representatives? A profoundly ineffective Speaker, a Speaker so weak that he has to depend on Democrat votes to pass legislation, is given assurances by the opposition party that they will protect him against his own caucus? Via The Hill:
A number of right-wing Republicans, long wary of Boehner’s commitment to GOP efforts attacking President Obama’s policy priorities, have openly considered a coup in an attempt to transfer the gavel into more conservative hands.
But Democrats from across an ideological spectrum say they’d rather see Boehner remain atop the House
than replace him with a more conservative Speaker who would almost certainly be less willing to reach across the aisle in search of compromise. Replacing him with a Tea Party Speaker, they say, would only bring the legislative process — already limping along — to a screeching halt.
So what are we grassroot Republicans to think? So far Boehner has show zip for actually winning the most important issue for which we padded his majority for – stopping Obama unconstitutional Executive Order all but legalizing illegal aliens, right? Under his leadership, have the Republicans given us results on ANYTHING that was an “ISSUE” during the campaign? Has he brought the Fight – and stayed on the ramparts?
Nope. Just put him in a French tank and watch him go backwards in 6th gear. My 25 pound Grok dog has more fight in her than he and the rest of his leadership team has. Heck, they can’t even rise to defend their own Constitutional standing, responsibility, and power.
And now, Boehner is gonna keep the Speakership, courtesy of Nancy Pelosi? And since this came out, absolutely nothing from Boehner in rejecting this. And it is clear that any legislation he really wants to put forward that goes against any smidgeon of the Republican agenda will be supported, not by his own caucus, but by the Dems.
So I ask: we continue to vote for these chuckleheads……why?
