An email from a good friend after getting back the Republican majority in the NH House, then getting bushwhacked with Democrat appointed Speaker Shawn Jasper, and now he’s published his Committee Chairs and Vice-Chairs (some having appeared in past editions of our RINO Report):
It looks pretty hopeless, Skip. Two years of nothing but pain…
The outcome of November that seemed so good at first has dismayed many here in NH. Sure, and then I remembered that hopelessness can be a CHOICE.
It is hopeless only if we make it hopeless or have it MAKE us feel hopeless. Look, given the high we were on right after the election, this does suck. We were expecting “Ah….we won’t have to worry about NH for two years.” Yes, compared to that expectation, this is a severe let down.
Swap it around, though – look what was stopped the last two years with a REAL Democrat / Progressive / Statist Majority. And with a Dem majority that scarcely listened to us – but they were made to. This time, there are a lot more Rs, and more GOOD ones, than last time. I’m not saying it will be rainbows and unicorns – by no means not. There will be pain but there will be MORE pain if we just give up.You really want to let the bastards (in both Parties) to beat you and then taunt you over it? Screw that!The price of Freedom is eternal vigilance. Valley Forge, Washington DC (War of 1812), Gettysburg, the Ardennes in WW I and WWII (battle of the Bulge), Pearl Harbor, D-Day, Choisen Reservoir, take your pick in Viet Nam, Fallujah, and the Pesch Valley (personal – that’s where the Youngest was deployed with heavy fighting) – can any of us say that right this instant that we are in as much physical danger than those that laid down their lives for OUR Freedom?Sure, it is easy to think we’re screwed but only in context of what our expectations WERE – and now we have reality. We must deal with what we thought vs what we have just had shoved down our throats (or up the a different orifice if you so wish) I look at the context of those fields of battle and go “er, maybe not as bad”.Make no mistake, our battles is just as important as theirs but look at the physical and mental conditions they were in vs what we have. Sure, most of us [actively involved in politics] are MUCH older, frailer, slower than they (those young soldiers), but I’m also sitting here in a heated house, at home, food aplenty, running water, electricity, and have my feet up on the couch – I am in no immediate physical danger. I don’t think anyone else is either.<snip>If NOT us, then who? Who will fight the battle for our kids, grandkids, and those still to come? I will not be one that will have to say in answer to Reagan’s famous question “Grandpa, what were you doing when they took our Freedom away?” that I simply gave up.
The alternative is tyranny by slices of our freedom, one regulation by another – by those that think they are “doing it for our own good”. Each time the statists show their hand – it is not us, the citizens, that should be able to make our own decisions but they for us. That is not freedom – and it isn’t for “the common good” either (although they will never be persuaded otherwise). It is either freedom or control.
Do not choose poorly.
