Which is thoughtfully, carefully, and soberly make the hard decisions to set real priorities into reality by actually doing their jobs in setting budgets. So, in celebration of doing nothing except to flip on the Federal Government financial auto-pilot once again, they congratulate themselves.
Sad, really sad – this is worse than almost any entertainment “congratulate ME!” awards show – with us paying their freight for, in effect FAILING TO DO THEIR JOBS!
Breaking news: The White House and congressional Republicans actually agree on something.
The Obama administration officially backed Wednesday a continuing resolution to keep the government funded this fall.
“The administration appreciates the strong bipartisan effort that produced the amendment that provides authorities that are essential in equipping the administration with the tools necessary to provide a comprehensive and sustained counterterrorism strategy to address the growing threat from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant,” said the Office of Management and Budget.
That’s right – wrap the failure up in “let’s keep people safe crisis” sleight of hand instead of “let’s actually do what we’re supposed to”. After all, Obama is bored, Reed is running ideological point for him, and the Republicans don’t have the stones to make the hard decisions they should be. All three parts are simply taking a pass and lying to us as being goodness.
“The administration appreciates that the House bill allows critical government functions to operate without interruption and avoids a damaging government shutdown,” OMB added. “While the administration acknowledges that the bill reauthorizes the Export-Import Bank, the administration encourages the Congress to pass a long-term extension to provide certainty to job-creators that export U.S.-made products and services. The administration appreciates efforts to address the Ebola epidemic and support prevention efforts.”
Yeah, and whole bunch of other social issues that Republicans wish would go away – but keep funding them anyways. They’re back to the “don’t make waves” mentality which is NO better than what they excoriate Obama for – leading from behind. That’s what this is – everyone sent to DC (and paid handsomely for it at $174K each per year) to not do their jobs.
Me? Heresy Warning to Progressives that worship every shadow that Government throws – let it shut down. Progressives are SO wrapped up that ALL power be shuttled to DC and only dispensed from on high back down to the States
Sidenote: (and remember this Constitution Day, the Constitution was constructed so that the States would be a brake on the Federal Government – how we have been yanked from that limiting factor by Progressives who treat the Constitution as something to be ignored)
they can’t stand anyone even Thinking that we couldn’t do without out. Actually, outside of the military, I can’t think of much that the States couldn’t do on their own (yeah, stopping the money printing for a bit might be a good thing!. And the State Dept is becoming a joke). After all, we have 50 perfectly good ones (ok, I’m willing to debate Illinois and California as two prime examples of bad governance) that would work just fine. Devolve that power back to the States and I am quite sure things would turn out just dandy – and probably even get better.
This is called redundancy – and look, we’d even get rid of the ridiculous circus of States getting on their knees praying to receive some of their own money back from the Feds – but only if the States held their hands out for the inevitable handcuffs that the Feds demand in obeisance for that money. Wouldn’t that be nice – keeping local money local without the Feds getting their vigorish and making better decisions because they’d be more tailored for local needs?
And just think – wouldn’t be FAR better for citizens as those they elect would be FAR more accountable as they could travel locally to get into the faces of those that get too full of themselves?
And it is for BOTH of those reasons that Progressives / Democrats will call me extremist and out of touch. No, it is because YOU wish to govern by taking those away.
