Actually, Steve didn’t even know that I was going to be there in the studio. Every month, Steve does an entire show with Liz “Life with Liz” Gabert on a Wednesday. Then she decide that the two of us would “prank” Steve by also having me in the studio.
I had planned on walking in just before showtime, believing he’d already been seated. Instead, he was still seated in the lobby and merely looked up and said, “What are you doing here?” in his normal, non-plussed way.
Seeing that Jasmine, the board operator, having already seated herself, we then went in. And promptly decided to prank Liz back by closing the doors, locking them, and hoping that she’d then hear Steve say “Welcome everyone to the Steve and Skip Show!” Unfortunately for us, she did get the doors open 30 seconds too soon.
Steve and I (mostly me as I was the one that had the mischievous idea in the first place) “paid the price” for it. But she had to admit, later, that I had warned her about what happens when Steve and I get together. It’s sorta like Tannerite – harmless before the two components are mixed but explosive afterwards when detonated.
I had warned Liz when she first proposed me coming in that “stuff would happen”. Dunno if she’s ever do it again (heh!).
Yes, we did kinda take over like I warned. But it WAS a good show – we did have fun! But you can see that Liz decided to “correct us” before the opening song was complete.
I dryly note that we kept Jasmine broadly smiling the entire show. I think she really enjoyed herself. Hope you do as you watch the show!
And yes, I have been (mostly) forgiven, as she had me on by phone yesterday. I’ll put that segment up later.
