WOW! – Traffic Surge Took Us Down But We’re Back!

Our apologies for the downtime. We’ve had a surge of traffic today focused on a handful of new articles, and the volume pulled us off a cliff. We’re back and going to have to add some bandwidth, and all I have to say is, Thank You!

From about 2:15 to 3:15, GraniteGrok.com was offline or barely online due to all the new traffic.

We are talking to our hosting service about increasing resources to prevent that in the future. That will, of course, cost a bit more monthly, but that’s fine. Our readers have also been generous enough to donate to help us offset these costs as we’ve increased our traffic.

I feel confident that will continue to be the case.

Traffic has been up about 20-30% in recent months with some very nice spikes each week. That volume looks like our new normal, so we’ll need to be built for that and more.

As a reminder, to date, no one gets paid to do any of what we do. We are a volunteer army, and most of us have regular day jobs or are retired. And we are humbled and very much appreciate you taking some of your time to spend with us.

We hope we can continue to earn your time and attention.
