So, this is how teachers are being taught to teach math?! I LOVE IT – I’ll be employed for as long as I want!
Remember: while the Gates Foundation (yeah, THAT Gates) has laid out millions to develop this, Jeb Bush (former FL Guv and the Bush dynasty) was the one who was pushing this. Now, Obama and Ed Secretary Duncan have co-opted it and are trying to make this a national education system. Remember, for a nation that Obama says needs more STEM education (Science, Technology, Education, and Mathematics):
“it’s alright if a student says 3 x 4=11”
As long as they show all their work? No, it’s not OK. Either it is right or (in some cases in Engineering) people die. But, I guess the Progressive word and meaning of “Intent” is all that matters (“er, my INTENT was to get the right answer”).
