Progressives put no stock at all in phrase “I learn more from my mistakes than from my successes”. Instead, Progressives are working hard to free anyone from any bad consequences, given that they are not responsible for the bad decisions leading up to that bad consequence. Re: one of the biggest bugaboos of Progressives is income inequality. Well, who rank amongst the poorest? Well, those that fail to heed these three basic “rules” of life:
- Finish High School
- Get married
- Then have babies.
Crossing off #1 and dropping out, going right to #3, and not bothering with #2 is THE recipe for being poor. But Progressives, instead of letting families deal with the situation, have the State ensure that there is no bad consequence at the time (house, food, medical, transportation, day care, et al). Still, studies show that kids without a father do much more poorly than those with an intact nuclear family with both a mother and a father.
I.e, there was a reason why “shotgun” marriages existed – families took responsibility for their own (even the wayward ones). True, not all, but in Progressive tradition, instead of treating the few that weren’t, they made them ALL the responsibility of everyone else (ah yes, forced charity – what a concept).
But no doubt, Progressives will complain.
