Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
And in this case, that would be the Freedom of Speech and the Freedom of Expression of Religion. Those of us that were against homosexual marriage were told that we were bigots, homophobes, Neanderthals with our knuckles always needing dirt cleaned from them, and that famous “times have changed”. Well, times have changed and many of us were prescient – we saw this coming. The Left has hated the Right for we have slowed or stopped their “progress” towards Cultural Marxism and their Neo-Feudalism version of Heaven on Earth. Included in that has been hatred of religious values still in force – absolute value to which many of us, as uber-Progressive Obama said, cling. Absolute values alone, knowing what is correct and right and what is wrong and sinful, has done much to keep the ideal of self-government / self-resposibility (at the individual level ) alive and the restraint on their march.
But the main aim of Progressivism has always been to be on the Throne but they realized that the only way to do that was to undermine the importance of religion, replace the absolute value system with relative moralism (to which they could manipulate any way they want) and by lessening what used to be a shared value, go after their main objective – the denigration of the US Constitution.
After all, if religion is of no account, then God isn’t either. And if there is no Creator, then by necessity, there are no inalienable Rights – shattering the philosophical foundation of the US Constitution. Rights become, just like when Kings and Queens ruled with scepters and their nobility / courtiers, simply something to either be extended by Government to either all or merely to some (re: Democrat identity groups) – and to be taken away as well. In the Progressive Heaven, just like with their morality, nothing is certain. And they like it that way – and Obama has begun to rule as if there was no Constitutional limits on him.
And now we see an example of Government changing out Constitutional values for Political Correctness Cultural Marxism by throwing both parts of the US Constitution under the bus – speech and religion. Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Chavez, and Ho Che Minh (he who Obama said was influenced by Jefferson – really??). In TEXAS, for pity’s sake:
San Antonio Considers Prohibiting City Workers from Expressing Bias Against Bisexuals
The San Antonio City Council is considering an ordinance that would ban anyone who speaks out against homosexuality based on their moral beliefs from being hired as a city employee or government contractor, including businesses owned by Christians.
The draft ordinance seeks to amend San Antonio’s Non-Discrimination Policy, which is based on Title VI of the Civil Rights Voting Act of 1964. (See SA-Ordinance.pdf)
This is one of my main beefs today – very few elected officials first think “what does the Constitution say about this”? Why is there no sense to go to our social contract, our foundational Law FIRST and then consult statutes that should be rightly subordinate. Nobody wants to discriminate – but have we as a society now gone over the cliff such that our “new enlightened” Progressive values (which can vary) now view the values that built this country, embodied in the First Amendment, as being wrong? Go ahead Zanda of Granite State Progress – explain how this progresses our society? Is this not discriminatory itself?
According to the proposed ordinance: “No person shall be appointed to a position if the City Council finds that such a person has, prior to such proposed appointment, engaged in discrimination or demonstrated a bias, by word or deed, against any persons, group or organization on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, age or disability.”
Again, no one wishes to discriminate – but in this case, simply being a Christian who stands firm in their belief that homosexuality (as well as adultery and pre-marital sex) is wrong and sinful. Speaking out is NOT discrimination unless one is looking for it with a hair thin trigger (aka, the race-baiters who see racists around every corner).
This is nothing more than a shielded attack on those of traditional Christan faith. The First says NOTHING about separation between church and State, only that the State cannot establish a religion. Many of us see this as yet one more step of the informal establishment of the Left loving Secular Humanism…
“Violation of this standard shall be considered malfeasance in office, and the City Council shall be authorized to take action as provided by law to remove the offending person from office,” the ordinance states.
And with a penalty if you “sin” against the New Progressive Testament. When is enough, enough, especially when in trying to “protect” one identity group from discrimination, Government is now declaring a whole new class as “evil” – simply for using their First Amendment Rights?
Remind me – who really won the Cold War?
Oh yeah, most Republicans are much more religious than Democrats – this becomes a three-fer. Add to that, Democrats said that they want want to turn Texas blue – what better way than to automatically outlaw most Republicans from holding office simply by expressing a view contra a Progressive ideal ensconced into law?
Isn’t this dandy – Democrats will have enacted an updated Jim Crow law. The KKK (which was a Democrat sponsored group – just ask about the background one of the Democrat’s Greatest Lions in the US Senate – former KKK Grand Kleagle Robert Byrd) would be proud.
