Even Instapundit is having problems with our commenting system, DISQUS, as well: “YEAH, DISQUS SEEMS TO BE BUSTED. I’ve emailed to try to get things fixed.”
For me as the GraniteGrok moderator, I get them all for all posts. It’s both nice – and time-consuming. The former allows me to see what people are thinking AND to enjoy the discussions you all have as a growing community. It does take a lot of time, however, to do right.
That said, I normally get the comments in on a steady basis. What happens when DISQUS falls off a cliff is that I MIGHT get a couple every once in a while and then, all of a sudden, it’s like a dam breaks open. Then, back to normal frequency. I’ve heard NOTHING from DISQUS when they start having these brain farts. In addition, when I have to go and moderate comments on their site, there is never an indication they are having difficulties. Unfortunately, they are considered to be the best of the breed so there’s really nowhere else to go except to use Facebook. I’d rather have dual white-hot pokers shoved through my eye sockets than convert to them.
So I apologize for any hardships, missed opportunities, and exposure to unnecessary FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) moments on discussions important to you – and to me.
