Well, I screwed up royally yesterday. For some reason, I thought the rally started at 2 pm and so, following my normal protocol of “arriving early” to help with setup, I drove down to the State House in Concord NH and arrived a few minutes before 1 pm. Turning onto the street next to the State House, my first thought was “WHY are so many cars here already?” and then saw the crowd and thought to myself “what, there’s another rally before the WLDNH one?” as there were a LOT of people already standing in front of the building. Then I saw what everyone was carrying (what would you expect at a gun rally??) and the flags. Sigh….just smack me around.
So, I arrived just in time, pretty much after finding a spot a ways away to park the car and walking back, to hear the last speaker of the day – Kimberly Morin, President of the Women’s Defense League of NH, give her usual stemwinder of a speech. Per normal, she did NOT disappoint:
A couple of quotes:
Collective responsibility is a fascist concept
This is one that I’ve been writing about a lot especially since Obama talked about this directly: “…that my individual salvation is not going to come about without a collective salvation for the country. Unfortunately, I think that recognition requires that we make sacrifices and this country has not always been willing to make the sacrifices that are necessary to bring about a new day and a new age.” It is fascist / Collectivist because it makes ME responsible, without my input and without my say so or agreement, for what others (that I don’t even know) do or say. The worst of it is that it completely eliminates the idea of personal responsibility and agency; each of us is reduced to merely being a cog in the Progressive / Socialist “social machine”.
Absolute rubbish and a denial of actual human nature.
The other quote reinforces this horrible notion:
I will not be responsible for misdeeds committed by people who look like me or with guns like mine nor for any actions of other people. I am responsible for my own actions.
(H/T: Oleg Volk) That’s a Conservative / Libertarian basic idea – each of us should be self-responsible for ourselves. However, that’s not what Socialists / Progressives (and in this case, anti-gun, gun grabbers and those that ignore the plain words of both the Second Amendment and Article 2-a of the NH Constitution) believe nor act. If one “sins”, all must be punished even as they seem to be making that Florida mass murderer almost a victim himself while the inanimate gun has agency all of its own. They blame the gun, and there, pass a guilty judgment on all those who possess such a gun and certainly those that won’t bow down to their continued political weaponization of children by the angry screams of “you child murder” – not to the actual perp but to the rest of us.
Collective guilt for a sin the vast majority of law-abiding gun owners didn’t commit and never would. But they seek to punish the rest of us.
Yet, I dryly note, if they truly were intellectually consistent, shouldn’t these Socialists and proto-Communists (as Marxist theory says Socialism is a stepping stone to Communism) be groveling and smearing ashes on themselves for the 100 million innocents murdered by Communist governments, especially the Soviets in Russia and Mao’s China? <crickets>
