BlogQuestion of the Day – if not thou, why not me?

by Skip

TTAG’s resident war hero Jon Wayne Taylor had the appropriate response to this line of thinking in today’s Question of the Day: when it comes to an active shooter, if trained law enforcement officers paid to protect the general public won’t intervene, who will?

Remember, in 2005 the Supremes ruled that police DON’T have to do anything to protect you: They don’t have a duty, or an obligation, to protect any given citizen. They protect the community. They do not protect you.

Yet, there are those, in their Hobbesian way, truly believe that our natural law Right to self-defense must be turned over to the State which has told us it doesn’t have to.  What kind of morons are those Gun Control fanatics like the astro-turfed Everytown and Giffords think they are?

So if the State doesn’t have to, as the question asks, who will if not yourself?
