Long time friend and loyal reader sent in this idea about how to solve the DACA bickering:
Hi Skip – I’m not a fan of making kids pay for the sins of their parents, but how come we can’t grant the kids a pass for every parent sent home?
Just asking.
I LIKE that idea – if a parent came here to give their kid a better life, now the parent has to go home to make SURE their child gets that better life. If you meant it, live it via a parental sacrifice instead of demanding the American taxpayer sacrificing instead. I’ll accept, for the sake of argument, that the child (even if now an adult) is blameless – the parent is not and should bear the consequence of their illegal action.
Would the Dems take this? I predict a real big Nope – while the argument is “we can’t split up families!”, the sentiment is “hey, they snuck in here well and good – and our white, Christian, capitalist, heteronormal, deplorable, irredeemable, bitter clingers to their Bibles, guns, and the Rule of Law Patriarchy society is oppressing them.
Yeah, that’s about right.
